Yeah the article says nothing about the 'players' Brad likes. The article tells a story about CBS treating Rondo the exact same way he treated his current ones. So is Rondo a CBS player?

Some of you folks now understand which  type of players will "fit" under CBS and which won't

Especially draft picks.

Thit is why unless you are an exceptional /mature/have a strong mental makeup freshman, it won't be easy playing or getting much playing time under CBS

Thus I predict the Celtics will be more excited to bring in a guy like Sabonis vs another guy with higher upside but has ways to go
Actually, know, we don't. That article had exactly nothing in it that describes the type of player or person Stevens would prefer in his system. If anything, it shows Stevens is extremely adaptable to the types of players he has and the variation of personalities he can coach and still get positive results from.

You are simply transferring your own predilections and buases onto Stevens preferences to continue to propagate this story tgat you know what type of player Stevens prefers.

Read the article again

Why since CBS has become coach ainge brought in guys like crowder, jerebko, drafted Rozier (reach)

What quality do they share?   You think it's just a coincidence?
Read the article and I have tremendous reading comprehension. There is no need to reread it. The article never once mentioned a type of player Stevens prefers for his system. As a matter of fact, the only time the article mention a type, it was a type of personality and the article stated Stevens was able to hable them all:

"He does so while navigating Thomas' sassiness, Crowder's sensitivity, Smart's aggression and Turner's short attention span -- none of which compares to the volatility of Rajon Rondo."

Thats it. Thats all there is regarding types of anything and not one mention regarding his system or preferences. This whole type of player that fits in Stevens system or that he precers is all something made up in your own head.

Read it again, but this time having already decided that there are "CBS-type players", then ignore anything that suggest there aren't, and, boom, you finally understand the article

It's not rocket science, just confirmation bias
I'm bitter.

Defense, the players say, is what Stokes Stevens.

He has been consistently described as a defense-first coach.  This article is consistent with the idea that Stevens values effort and commitment to defense more than he values physical tools and size in the absence of those traits.

I suspect that Stevens wants players who will play defense the way he wants and it's his job to knit together their abilities into a working offense.

As also is explained in the article, Isaiah Thomas, a player known specifically for his offense and poor defensive abilities and defensive effort prior to coming here, was coached up into actually playing defense. Obviously, this is against this type you discuss. So perhaps what Stevens wants is talented players regardless of their strengths and weaknesses and he thinks he can coach them to play his type of team defense because his philosophy is defense first.

Nick I can keep laying out examples if you don't get "it"

You either have these qualities or he will try to make you that way to "fit

As busy as he is per article/players take,  wouldn't you think he would take option 1? And with Danny supporting him , most of the players you see today share some "similar qualities"

I'm sorry if you can't see it.  And the pattern I doubt will start changing anytime soon

Stevens has called James Young, Tyler Zeller, and Kelly Olynyk tough. Its something he says about everyone.

I think all you can say is a Stevens player is a team player oriented towards winning and that is willing to defend.  I see Stevens as the best kind of coach, one that can adapt his team.  Coaches with a specific system can be great (Phil Jackson for example) but I like the Popovich types who will adjust.  Personally, I do not assume the team stays this exact same style of the personnel change.

He would do like Pop did and slow things down this year for the Spurs if that was the right move for the roster.

I do see him as a guy that likes spacing (works best with his x's and o's) and some pace (because he likes guys playing hard all the time) but otherwise I think he is a guy that will adjust.

The bottom line is , its a quality he is high on.

That is why I keep mentioning Sabonis. If Sabonis was tough as nails but had very little skills or motivation to get better, was extremely undersized, etc.   I wouldn't even bring his name up

But that is not the case. And imo he would be a very nice fit under CBS.

some more quotes

Sabonis post game comments Jan 2016

“Just go get it (off the glass). It was really fun, very physical, the refs let us play,” Sabonis said. “It was great for the team that we were down and we came up toward the end to get the win.”

Mark Few on Sabonis

“[Domantas] is as impressive of a person and player as I’ve ever coached,” Gonzaga head coach Mark Few said in the release. “He has an insatiable desire to get better.”

Used to love Jackie Mac. Still upset over her Deflategate pile on article. I'll take a look based on the feedback here but she's permanently in the dog house. For good.
