Various issues I have with Marcus at this time. In no particular order.

We draft him and everyone knows shooting is something he needs to work on. Two years later he is historically bad. How does that happen? Also the same week as the playoffs he's making a rap video. Does this seem like a really hard and focused worker to you? I don't think this bodes well.

I don't like the hair any more. It was ok for a week.

His style of play is making refs turn against us for a good reason. Just being annoying and jerky isn't good defense. Flopping like a fish. Complaining/crying. I think he has regressed as a defender. He used to do a great job of staying in front of you and getting in passing lanes. Now it seems like he's trying to get in heads more, but his style of play attracts whistles and makes other players hate us, which will be bad in free agency.

He used to be a leader. Now he's not. He used to play hard. Now he's just a pest out there. Pesting is great, but it can't be the only thing you do. T Rozier is fully capable of that for less money.

His style of play....I don't like saying it, however.....it's the style of a punk. It's out of control and dangerous. It leads to him being injured too much. It is also dangerous to other players on the floor. It leads to the refs being unfair to us.  It's really the style of the bad boys Pistons and those guys were absolute punks. If I were another coach and he got out of control like that I'd just send a 12th man to get in there and injure him. Then you don't have to worry about him for a few weeks and he might think twice before doing it again.

There's still a lot of hope for him. But this is heading south right now and I think we should trade him while we can.

Ha , one of the reasons you don't like him is because of his hair ?

All world type defender, just needs to cut out the flops and get a consistent J

Rozier is not Smart. Smart is elite at something already and may develop to be more. Rozier is a good prospect but needs a lot of development across the board. Smart is a starter for a team that needs a guard defender. Rozier is an off the bench player right now. Both are almost the same exact age.

You don't like him because he made a rap video and has a unique haircut, you sound like my dad.

Marcus Smart "Impacts Winning."

These are Boston Celtics Coach Brad Stevens words - not mine.....and I agree wholeheartedly with CBS.

So, if we want to keep winning then we'd better keep Marcus - OR get a good haul in return for him.

If Marcus is EVER sent packing, I'd expect Jimmy B to be coming our way, seriously.

Speaking of dads are any of you Marcus' dad? It's ok son. You can shoot at historically horrid levels and I'll still love you?  You can get hurt every year and not really improve and it's ok as long as you try your hardest.

Anyone?

Exactly.  Marcus Smart is still an elite defender and very young.  You have to have patience with young guards or you end up giving away a Chauncey Billups (7x AS, 3x All-Nba) or a Joe Johnson (7x AS, 1x all-nba).  It is not like Smart's salary is killing our cap, he's making less than 3.5m per season.  Chump change in the NBA.

However, if we can trade Smart now in a package for an all-star player in their prime, I would have to consider that move.  For example, if we can obtain, Butler, Griffin, or Cousins.

If Marcus was my son, I'd tell him I LOVE his DEFENSE and FEARLESSNESS.

I'd tell him work on his offense....and encourage him that he will get better if he continues to work.

I'd tell him that Offense sells tickets but DEFENSE wins championships.

I'd tell him to keep making plays like this:

I'd tell him to keep doing all of the intangible things that this team needs to be successful.....I'd also tell him that many of these intangibles will NOT show up in the boxscore - but will endear him to his teammates and coaches.

Marcus Smart, if anyone here hasn't realized it yet - is our modern day JYD.

Junkyard dogs are nasty, dirty, fearsome, protective of their turf and dangerous. They're often unpredictable.

Just as soon as you think you've figured them out, they sneak up on you and bite you in the keester.

But the owners of these JYD's LOVE them. They do their jobs effectively and with little fanfare.

do they flop?  ;)
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

They do if they knew it'd make their masters happy - or help the team.

LOL :)

Most dog breeds in general are VERY intelligent and loyal and I'm sure JYD's are no different.

Don't let the rough exterior fool you.

I knew a junk yard dog once. My brother decided to take on a pit bull that was largely abandoned by a college football player that got kicked off the team (and you have to be a total moron to get kicked off Penn State circa 2009) and needed to try out for the pros asap. It decided to chomp the 90 year old grandma. We had it killed.

Give me an intelligent dog.
