I emailed the Celtics to tell them if they trade for Cousins that I will not purchase tickets next year.

I suggest anyone who dislikes Cousin's attitude as much as I do to email the Celtics.
I have got about 40 other people to send similar emails. If you feel the same way please email the Celtics and talk to your ticket representative as well.

I'm sure the front office will take those 41 requests (that they never see) very seriously. It just seems like a waste of your time, emailing the team and asking them not to improve the franchise.

 ;D

How picky are we that we can deny that type of talent after what just happened to us in the playoffs?
Jeff Clark said on his Facebook live that he would pass on Cousins. Doesn't fit the new culture.

No way to know for sure without trying, or at least seeing him outside the dumpster fire that is Sacramento. PP was immature for a long while, too. Smart shoved a fan and got suspended for it in college, yet he's an integral part of our culture.

It's hard to judge Cousins in the context that he's in. During the Malone era, he's shown that he can be level-headed, behave, and an All-NBA talent at the same time. It's no coincidence that Malone was the most stable, positive influence on Cousins in Sacramento, and Cousins benefited and thrived in that stable environment. He'd be similar here in Boston, and there's plenty of other similar examples to back this up, too.
Smart doesn't challenge the coach. He doesn't quit on a play. He isn't an emotional wreck throughout the game and doesn't let bad calls cause him to play poorly for the next 4-5 minutes.

I really don't like the comparison you made. Having a competitive edge and playing with nastiness is good but Cousins is just moody and a guy who plays the victim way too often. He can't focus on just playing. He gets thrown off his game so easily.

This happened numerous times to Smart this year, e.g. the crotch grab that got him fined by the league or some of the late-game dumb fouls that he committed after getting (admittedly) robbed on calls.

And this isn't just a Smart-hater saying this either. I'm probably the biggest Smart fan on this board, but I realize his tenacity, fire, and playing style comes with some drawbacks at times. I think Cousins is the same way, but his flaws have been exacerbated in an incredibly unstable and dysfunctional environment. I think there's a really strong chance that Smart would be similar to Cousins in that type of environment.
Smart doesn't pout and take himself out of the next play even close to as many times as Cousins does. We are talking about the all time moodyest player in Cousins.

Smart like every other player who plays with an edge will get thrown off his game sometimes but Cousins is the king of this and it's not close and I refuse to go along with your comparison.

Put Smart in a horrible environment like Sacramento, and I bet you'd see similar behavior to Cousins in a lot of ways, at least with the pouting not the occasional lack of effort he gives.

One day we will finally agree on something. Today is not that day.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
I'm surprised by all the Cousins hate on here.

I don't think we can be choosey when it comes to adding a star. When one becomes available we need to pounce.

He is a guy who was handed the keys of a terrible franchise with a bad coach. The only time he had a coach he respected he played the best ball of his career. Bring him to the Celtics and our coach and management will be able to get the best out of him.

I also think how consistently hard the C's play would force him to give consistent effort. The Kings did the opposite of surrounding him with hard working players when they traded for Rudy Gay and signed Rondo.

There is a huge difference between adding Cousins to a team with an established culture vs. drafting him and expecting him to set the tone of the team's culture.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Now apparently Divac is saying Cousins won't be traded "this year for sure."  ::)

The flip-flops, contradictory reports just show what a mess that organization is. I can't wait until they miss the playoffs yet again next year, give one more stab at it in Cousin's contract year, then either sell him for pennies on the dollar at the deadline if they're not in the race or watch him walk in free agency after they miss the playoffs yet again.

I suspect that draft night will be his peak value. It goes down after that.

Very bad PR job by Vlade indeed. What does it even mean to say I'm not selling, but I want to know the price (?)
