Chad Ford had us selecting Murray at 4 and now that we are the third pick, he still has us selecting Murray.

Here is my case against this:

Lacks quickness for a guard
Below average lift
Average defender
Undersized 2 guard

He kind of reminds me of Devin Booker with a better handle but I think Booker has more length and lift. I feel like Murray would had gone after the top 11 of last year's draft. Around the same pick for Booker. So either Chad Ford has Murray way over rated, the draft is just that weak this year or I'm seriously under rating Murray.

So please make a case for Murray and why he would be a good 3rd pick in the draft.

I think Murray is going to be very good, if we don't get Simmons or Ingram, Murray is who I would take. After these three this is a very weak draft!!

Murray had many more TOP games vs Booker did in college.

People expected Booker to be better eventually, but not this fast .   He also rocked some of the combine tests.

Booker def has good size/length for a SG.  And with more room to operate and more freedom to play his game , the Suns have found a gem

Murray at worst is going to be a taller (not by much) but stronger JJ Reddick.   Really good at utilizing screens.  And he will run around like a headless chicken to lose him man and get open.  Fantastic shooter with long range. But later in the season and into the tourney, he looked tired.  Frustrated because he was hounded /doubled.  Didn't shoot the 3 particularly well

He has to get into "next level" physical condition.

BTW he does not have a below avg lift. 39 inch vertical is not below avg lift.   Maybe not explosive from standstill but he can jump

The only thing I worry about with Murray is his quickness. He has crazy handles, but his speed with the ball in his hand is not great. I worry about him not being able to get enough separation to create his own shot or drive by quicker perimeter defenders. Smart has the same issue. However, Paul Pierce was not fast either but he had a certain quickness to him to get to where he wanted on the court so hopefully Murray has that same kind of quickness.

With that being said, if we don't get 1 or 2, this thing is getting traded.

I like to go by what my eyes see.

He might measure well when tested without a ball but he doesn't have much in game lift.

You could group him and Buddy Hield together. Great shooters but average athletic quickness and lift. Hield tends to push off more. Murray has a slightly better handle. I'm not liking either pick.

I would much rather take Dunn at 3 over Murray or Hield.

For??

Why would for example would the Bulls want number 3 when Celts don't??

It's not like number 5 for a 32 year old ray allen

good point on Murray.

Hield's college game reminded me of Pierce but he lacks Pierce's length. If he was taller I wouldn't worry about his lack of quickness.

Hield is over hyped. Hard to know what other GMs are thinking. They might want him.

If Philly takes Simmons they should move Noel for Smart. Then Murray would make sense for C's. Murray is a lot more offense than Smart so he makes for a good back up to AB. Also with Turner who will probably be gone via FA you need more shot creators from the bench. Murray was a good shot creator at college level. So it all depends on those two factors for me. A depth chart with Noel and Murray;
PG=IT/Rozier/___
SG=AB/Murray/___
SF=Jae/Hunter/___
PF=KO/Mickey/___
C=Noel/AJ/___

You then still have all the other picks and FA to add to the roster.

I keep reading that next year's draft is deep.

We could trade pick 3 to the Kings for their pick and next year's pick if they own it.

We could grab Brown at number 8 and get the Kings 2017 first.

ok, but why would sacramento make this trade?
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I'd rather have Bender, but Murray is 4th on my board so I wouldn't be upset if we went with him.

I think he's a better athlete than he has shown thus far. His handle isn't as tight as it could be so the ball slows him down, I expect him to look much quicker once he improves his handle. He looks plenty quick enough when he's running around a bunch of screens to get himself free off the ball.

On defense he gets caught ball watching and doesn't stay as low as he should closing out. I think once he takes care of these things he will show his true quickness on defense.

He's about as good of a shooter as a freshman in college as I've ever seen. Booker shot 41.1% from 3 on 3.7 attempts a game, Murray shot 40.8% on 7.7 attempts a game.

Booker was a safety valve to spread the floor, Murray run off a ton of screens to free himself for 3's, the degree of difficulty on his shots were much more difficult than Booker's due to the quality of his teammates compared to Booker.

Murray is a crafty scorer and an excellent shooter, he's going to be a really really good pro.
