Pho I had that sense before the recent departures of King and their coach. You would have to agree that sitting out Lopez and Thad for the last 7 games is a very proactive long strategy angle (especially when it doesn't help their draft stock at all).
It could also signal that they recognize the year is over and want to save those guys for a run next season. Who knows.
Signing a few players like them and seeing if they can ever realize the potential that made them lottery picks seems more plausible to me than them signing established vets like Deng, Derozen, Ryan Anderson, Rondo etc. Now someone I would not want them to get that is kind of in the middle is Sullinger. That being said who do you see on this list that could possibly sign with them?
Rondo, Jennings, Eric Gordon, Jeff Green, Luol Deng, Nene, O.J. Mayo, Gerald Henderson, C. Lee, Waiters, Bayless, M. Barnes, etc.
They can't offer a winning situation but they can offer money, minutes, and a substantial offensive role.
Of course if their starting lineup next year is Jennings, Henderson, J. Green, Young, and Lopez, they'll still be pretty awful.
