I know they didn't technically match up in the starting lineup, but with the amount of small ball played, these guys were going at each other a lot. Sullinger came up big with 20 points on 7-13 shooting (2-2 from 3, 4-6 from the line), 12 rebounds, 3 assists (1 turnover) and a steal in 27 minutes. Draymond had 16 points on decent shooting, 9 rebounds, 7 assists (4 turnovers), 6 steals and 2 blocks in 37 minutes. Both had great games -- but Sully's team came out on top, and I'd argue that Sullinger had a superior night in fewer minutes.

I'm pretty sure most on CB forums are aware of how big a fan I am of Sully. He had another strong month for the Celts in March and started off April with a bang. I'm still very intrigued by what type of player a thinner Sullinger could be. It'll be interesting to see how Ainge handles his restricted free agency.

Good thread.  Sully's ability to punish Draymond when GS went small was a large part of the Celtics' win last night.

Nate Duncan and Ethan Sherrod Strauss were talking about how Sully is one of the few guys in the league who can move Draymond on the block.

Sully played well - and was one of the reasons celts won

He's also had a good stretch lately

But comparing him to dgreen is not fair to sully

They are completely different players

They just happened to guard each other - for a few minutes

I've been vocal about my dislike of Jared Sullinger but last night was impressive and not too far off what he's been doing consistently for a few months now. I will happily eat all the crow I have coming if he develops into the player he's been capable of being all along.

I think his body has matured significantly this year which is so important for a post player. He seem's "bigger" to me like he doesn't need to knock around in the post as much to get too his spots. As long as he can hold up this level of production over a season I'd be 100% ok with signing him long term. I honestly just never thought he would be able to do this without his body breaking down.

It felt like Draymond was trying to bully him all night and Sully was giving everything right back. That play he had at the end where he threw up the off target hook shot too set up his offensive rebound put back was dynamite. Absolutely one of the biggest reasons we won last night.

Sully was HUGE caught myself thinking a lot last night what would we do without him. If he continues to have a solid outing and into the playoffs we gotta keep him around long term.

I get the sense that Sullinger, Turner, and Johnson are continually undernoticed because if fans recognized how important they've been to the Celts' success then it might complicate dreams of adding bigger stars through a trade or free agency. Because, you know, we can't be a real contender and beat elite teams like the Warriors without adding bigger stars...ahem.

HUGEEEE key to victory! CBS was dead on last night, everyone that played, played well and contributed to this W and that's what we need every night! Even Roze snagged some good rebounds (he has a nose for it like Sully) and he had some key defensive moments too.

Jared Sullinger played well in the GSW win.

Of course there won't be a thread "Here" about him for that.....unless it's accompanied by the prerequisite "weight" jokes. :(

Sully has had more ups than downs this season, a continuation and positive contributions against quality opposition in the playoffs will help the Celtics and help Sully (assuming he would like to remain a Celtic). I have been critical at times though we may still not have seen the best from Sully.

Sully did well.  He was very involved , head in the game , with good energy from start to finish .

He knocked down some nice jumpers .  Was his usual tuff self around the rim.

He had more good days than bad

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I think his conditioning has improved a lot.

The ESPN announcers were commenting that Sully was gassed in their first game in Boston, and in this game he was relentless and never seemed like he was struggling with fitness.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Sully is a top rebounder in the league. When he wants to put on the hard helmet and battle down low, nobody can hardly stop him.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Good times.

Good times.

Not as good a time as when everyone was complaining about Avery Bradley.  :D

Oh well we still have James Young to kick around.
