I'm not. We need 4th

TP Agreed.

Why are we settling for a potential first round knockout? Toronto is almost guaranteed, they've owned us this season and Atlanta would be very hard matchup for us.

4th, homecourt vs. Miami or Charlotte is very favorable for us.

If anything the Subject should be I'm okay with the 4th or 5th seed

We need home court adv real bad.

Why?  To get out of the first round?
Yes. I think getting out of the first round is a good reasonable goal to have as a fan.

I don't think home court is a necessity to get out of the first round.  I think its much more predicated on team matchup.
Not a necessity but with all the teams from 3-6 winning around 2/3 of their games at home, it certainly wouldn't hurt.
HCA and advancing to the 2nd round would be satisfying progress for this season. This is the point, in my mind. To say we might as well play Cleveland or Toronto to gauge where we stand is erroneous thinking. We already know this squad will not beat Cle and most likely not Tor.

Cleveland .....no chance .....LeBron plays at 100% during playoffs ....it's what his whole life is about...it's hard to tell what the Cavs are really like ...because the Diva only plays half way during 95 % of the regular season.

Toronto .......slim chance to win series.......not impossible ,  just highly unlikely ....need injury help to their stars.

So .....we want min of 6 th seed.......so,we can see a few game or have a shot with somebody in a round.

To move on out of a 4-6 seeding  .....Danny is going to have to upgrade the team .....TWO stars would draw C's close to even.with the top two.

We already have a stickied post about seeding.

No reason for new threads - it may confuse readers.

Not really.

People seem smart enough to know how to move around the forums.

I hope the Celtics rest players against the Bobcats.

Team should be 4 or 5. Getting 3 would be crazy. 6-8 would be disappointing.

You want to play Atlanta, who we're 1-3 against this year, over two teams that we're 2-0 against AND would have home court advantage against?

I think a success this season means getting to the 2nd round and I think the best way to do that is with homecourt advantage. This is still a young team with minimal playoff experience and getting some home cooking would go a long way to making them confortable and helping to advance against whoever they wind up playing.

People posting that they want a lower seed so the team can have a better draft pick are insane. That deep in the draft, the difference between #22 and #19 is next to nothing. And in the unlikely scenario that there is someone Ainge is desperate for, you can make that can of move with a second rounder or two (since we have more than we will ever be able to use this summer and going forward). Homecourt, I think, would mean infinitely more to this team. Advancing in the playoffs would be a big deal both for the player's and for the organization when it comes to recruiting free agents.

Seems to me we want the #3 seed for pride, home court and Charlotte. Charlotte has had a strong year, but it feels like Miami would be a tougher match up.

I'd rather not get the third seed. The last thing I want is us to lose as the higher seed (or barely scrap by). Sets a bad impression throughout the league and to free agents. Would much rather be a lower seed, and fight hard (even if we lose the series). And if we win the series then it looks great bc we pulled an upset!
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Home court advantage is significant. When you think about it, it's like going into the series up 1/2-0. And between the 3rd and 4th seeds, don't you want to avoid the Cavs in round 2?

i understand about reaching the second round and it would be very, very nice.

but just label me the prince of low expectations. if the celtics win ONE playoff game this year i consider it a great improvement. at the start of the rebuild, i did NOT think the celtics would be in the playoffs until next season. so, i am pleased as punch with them so far and would be delighted with a measly win or two.

of course, i wouldnt turn down the celtics winning a playoff series either.  ;D

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I get that. Winning a playoff game would be an improvement on last season but I think, given how well the team has played this year, it would be a disappointment to me if they didn't advance. It would for me, anyway. And I think the benefit of going to the second round is worth the risk of losing to a lower seed by a mile.

Btw, where will we be seeded in case we tie Miami and Charlotte at the end of the regular season?

I think Miami gets the 4 seed if it's a 3 way tie by virtue of winning their division. But we have the tie breaker over both the Heat and hornets, so if we tie with one we get the 4.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

No, we win, because the Hawks are the division winners within that division that includes Atlanta, Miami, and Charlotte. Thus, it goes to head-to-head winning percentage among three teams, which we obviously win since we're undefeated against those teams.
