I'm not. We need 4th

TP Agreed.

Why are we settling for a potential first round knockout? Toronto is almost guaranteed, they've owned us this season and Atlanta would be very hard matchup for us.

4th, homecourt vs. Miami or Charlotte is very favorable for us.

If anything the Subject should be I'm okay with the 4th or 5th seed

Realistically, there's no chance of the 7th seed. If we do end up 7th, it's because we go on an epic losing streak to end the season, and that is something I would NOT be okay with. Moreover, a 1st round matchup with the Raptors really needs to be avoided.

Between 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th I don't think it makes a huge difference. All of the likely matchups are pretty even - I'd say the C's odds of getting out of the 1st round are basically 50% no matter where we end up. Maybe a 6-3 matchup vs the Hawks would be 45-55, and a 3-6 vs the Hornets would be 60-40. A way more important factor than seeding will be Crowder's ankle - we need him to be 100% with all the rust off. It was really really encouraging to see him playing well yesterday. Watching the C's struggle all these games without Crowder, I've become convinced that he is our best and most valuable player.

I agree being confused by the 7th place posts too. Are people not looking at the schedule? Obviously anything can happen but we are playing the Lakers, Bucks and Pelicans in our next 3 games. The pelicans are currently not playing jrue holiday, eric gordon, tyreke evans, antonio davis or ryan anderson. That would be the most pathetic loss of the season by a mile.

I think as a sixth or seventh seed the Celts would be lucky to force a Game 6.

I'm still not terribly confident that this team is really "built" for the playoffs, and they have no experience actually winning playoff games with this group.

Sixth or seventh seed means they're up against the Hawks or Raptors without home court advantage.  I think there's a good chance that's a gentleman's sweep.

Celtics need to win either Game 1 or 2 and they'll steal have home court advantage. Then win the rest of the way.

To me, it's less about seeds, and more about matchups.

Facing Miami or Charlotte in the 1st round seems less problematic than facing Atlanta or Toronto.

I think Boston can win on the road against either MIA or CHA. Having HCA against either would be fine, but not essential to moving on to the 2nd round.

Sounds about on par with my thought process as well.

We need home court adv real bad.

Why?  To get out of the first round?

Yes. I think getting out of the first round is a good reasonable goal to have as a fan.

We already have a stickied post about seeding.

No reason for new threads - it may confuse readers.

I don't think home court is a necessity to get out of the first round.  I think its much more predicated on team matchup.

Not really.

People seem smart enough to know how to move around the forums.

Not a necessity but with all the teams from 3-6 winning around 2/3 of their games at home, it certainly wouldn't hurt.

Obviously, it could help but I don't think not getting HCA for the first round will be the straw that breaks the camel's back with this team.

The 7th seed would be sweet.

We might be able to draft Sabonis with the 19th pick.
