Many of us were shocked by Chad Ford's recent mock draft having us select Marquese Chriss with the Brooklyn pick. The General reaction from most was a mix of disbelief, confusion, annoyance and anger but after doing some googling it's possible that Ford might be on to something.

Breakdown
Despite being raw, Chriss possesses the type of bounce that makes him a match up problem at any level. At 6'9, 220 Chriss has excellent size for the PF position and a strong faceup game complimented by solid footwork and silky smooth finishes. More of an athlete than a player at this point however, while he has the capability to physically dominate his match up he can also bullied by more physical post players and has a tendency to pick up cheap fouls.
Why he fits with us:
The Washington Connection. Marquese Chriss developed some strong chemistry with fellow first round prospect Dejounte Murray this year and it goes to show the kind of pedigree that prospects from a school like Washington can bring. Nate Robinson, Martell Webster, Spencer Hawes, Isaiah Thomas, Terrence Ross and Tony Wroten Jr. may be flawed in certain ways but they've carved out nice careers for themselves and Chriss looks to be no different. Assuming The Celttics run some of IT's favorite plays it's highly possible that Chriss will be able to come in and make an immediate impact running the Pick and Roll with Isaiah.
Conclusion:
Marquese Chriss is going to make the job of an NBA Gm picking at the top of the lottery much more difficult. He's got the right blend of production and upside to warrant a lotto pick despite remaining relatively under the radar for most of this year. While I think it's possible for him to be taken high, my official prediction is that he'll be making some team picking in the 10-13 range very happy.
