Hield is shaping up nicely to be this year's "guy who ends up rising so much he gets taken two picks before the C's draft."

That's a tough question my gut says move AB but I'm not sure how that effects IT or if Marcus is the answer starting at SG with Hield as 6th man. My other issue with such a move is that AB is really only a few years older then Hield, is signed to a great contract, and has been a very solid starter.

Not as bold as thinking we will get #3. Haha.

Well getting picked Negative Second isn't an option, so #3 was boldly pessimistic.

Let's hope this entire discussion leaves the basketball gods confused enough that we end up with a pick good enough to render Hield irrelevant.

We better not draft him with the Nets pick, unless we get really unlucky and end up picking 6th.

I would love to use our other picks to try to trade up and get him though. His 3 point shooting is what we really need. If we drafted him I don't think we would necessarily need to trade a guard right away. If he earned the minutes during the season he could allow us to package Bradley to try to upgrade our big men.

After the top two picks, there is a great deal of parity in picks from 3-10.  Ainge will get these guys in and run them through a workout. Hield's draft stock is rising.  I'm convinced he's an NBA caliber scorer on a good team.

The lottery is like Xmas everyone in it is getting a present.  Ours might be the one of the top scorers in the NCAA.

Likely its Bradley or Smart that goes in a bigger deal..

who would you suggest taking instead of him (obviously after Simmons and Ingram)?
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Danny should figure out what player he wants in this draft and trade up to get him.  He has the assets to do so.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I'd say Avery Bradley.

He will fulfill the exact role that Bradley plays for us also. He'll get the off the screen jumpers, the cuts and everything.

The easiest solution is to trade James Young and a second round pick to another team for a trade exception and just open the spot on the roster for Heild by dumping Young. Buddy then has the time to develop as fast or as slow as he needs and the Celtics can hold onto their extremely productive and effective wing and back court rotation of Bradley, Smart, Thomas, Turner and Crowder and make a decision of who needs to go after Heild is proven to be a rotational worthy player.

There is a good chance that any trade exception would have to be renounced due to the Celtics going under the cap when it goes up.  It makes much more sense to keep the pick and just cut Young outright.  Giving up on Young makes more sense than trading any of the current rotation guards.
