Whomever it takes to get an MVP-caliber Center, whenever one becomes available.

All our other positions are pretty set for a while, so I'd like to stay patient and focus on getting a quality C.

I don't think going all in is something you can do on a roster level. Not having at least 5 NBA bigs is asking for a disaster if injuries occur.
All is right and fair in your statement, having just one big would prove to be a disaster. The perspective that I am considering now is that, with essentially a 3 guard rotation, a big is needed with such attributes as being highly athletic, and to have a high BBIQ to keep up with the rest of the team; qualities that Zeller unfortunately does not have. Somebody like an athletic Sullinger would be perfect, maybe Mickey in the future.

Agree with others who say we'd have to wait and see if Hield can really produce at the NBA level.


I'd say, at a minimum, it would guarantee that the Celts let Turner sign elsewhere in free agency.

It would also give them more freedom to consider including anybody in the stable of guards in a trade, including Thomas, Bradley, and Smart.


Name of the game this summer is adding at least one top 20-30 type talent to the roster. 

Beyond that, improving the big man rotation (size, athleticism, defensive rebounding, interior finishing all needed) and adding capable wing depth (need good size and shooting) are musts.

having Hield available with our pick (say 5 or 6) makes the pick valuable in a trade package draft night.  Maybe we can create package to get one of Cousins, Okafor, Noel or Butler.  Should be fun night!!

The only untouchables on our roster are Isiah and Crowder. (Who would have said that a year ago???LOL)

I too was impressed with Hield's play over the weekend.  I couldn't help comparing him to Winslow.  Hield is 3 years older than Winslow but may be better even when adjusting for age.  Danny was willing to "sell the farm" for Winslow.

How about we take a good young big with the Net's pick at #3 (  ;) ) and then trade the Dallas pick and something, maybe Bradley, maybe a future 1st, for the #8 or #10 pick and take Hield there?  Not likely I know but this would be my preferred approach.

The easiest solution is to trade James Young and a second round pick to another team for a trade exception and just open the spot on the roster for Heild by dumping Young. Buddy then has the time to develop as fast or as slow as he needs and the Celtics can hold onto their extremely productive and effective wing and back court rotation of Bradley, Smart, Thomas, Turner and Crowder and make a decision of who needs to go after Heild is proven to be a rotational worthy player.

So after two years of being the 15th man for the Boston Celtics(the 2nd season somehow being a 15th man even when three rookies were on the team), showing nothing at the pro level whatsoever and playing defense like its a rumor in the NBDL, that you would be expecting to trade Young for anything more than a salary dump? What do you really see as his potential return in a trade that nets no players coming back because opening the roster spot is what is really going to be the value of this trade?

Yes, absolutely this should happen.  You only get 15 roster spots per season, and Young is not deserving of one.  Furthermore, cap room may be important next summer, and he takes that up as well.  It frankly doesn't matter to me whom we draft -- Young is best sent off with a second rounder on draft night.

Remember last year around draft time an unnamed GM estimated Young's value as a top 10 pick? Yeah, those were the days. I have to imagine if Danny could have even landed a top 20 pick for Young he would have jumped on it.

 Presumably Noel or Okafor could be available, but who would you prefer we move. Bradley or Smart Rozier doesn't have much value yet neither does Hunter or Young, So it really comes down to Avery and Marcus.

No one needs to be traded.  Heild, if drafted, is not guaranteed to be playing a minute next year.
