And we all need to remember that Golden State was playing in a back to back and SA was NOT!!  This was also GS's 4th game of the week and only the 3rd for SA.

Those things simply DO NOT happen in the playoffs.

Too many people are overplaying this alleged "huge win" by the Spurs.

It truly is, for all practical purposes, meaningless, other than the Spurs home winning streak!!!

Smitty77
Exactly. Plus they were missing Bogut and Iggy.

Wow.  I forgot that!!  Nice catch.  So they were missing a member of last year's Second-Team All-NBA team and the Finals MVP and still almost won in a back to back:-))))))

That game meant NOTHING.

Spurs are a more balanced team this year.   Duncan, geno are not even playing at full capacity.

Leonard is amazing.

can you please avoid putting results in your thread titles? As a courtesy to others?

kudos to the spurs. but i am not sure this means they can beat GSW in a series. the GSW had played something like 4 games in 6 days, were on the road, and shot around 25% from 3 point land.

i am not sure those conditions a results will repeat in the future.

yes, the spurs could beat GSW in a 7 game series. but the opposite seems a bit more likely to me.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

like I have stated looks like it will comedown to who gets the #1 seed.    That game 7 will be huge as both  and SA have unbeatable home records.

As an opponent your knees just get weak unless you are the type of player (like Jordan) that loves to silence the crowed.

At least yesterday, I have a hard time blaming Lebron.

Let's talk about match ups.

I know it's just one game, but let's not forget, the Warriors had a relatively easy path to the finals last year because of seeding.

If GS had faced San Antonio, or even the Clippers (who were red hot), I'm not so sure that they coast in cruise control to the finals losing only 3 games along the way as they did last season.

I'm not even saying that GS would necessarily lose a series, but San Antonio may have matched up better against them than Memphis or Houston, which would at the least wear GS down a bit heading into the next round.

I also feel that if San Antonio some how beat GS, or made it to the finals by some other circumstance, that Cleveland would match up better against them than GS.

I know that the Warriors are historically good, but it makes sense that coaches will soon figure out a way to stop their strategy. Seeing Green block Curry on a 3, while getting swarmed in what felt like a triple team was a pretty impressive strategy.

TL/DR

Spurs match up good against Warriors. Warriors easy path to finals last year, San Antonio may give them trouble. Cleveland matches better against Spurs. Coaches will crack Warriors code eventually.

I really hope we get to see them play a series.  Could be one of the best ever.

I voted no but now I have mixed feelings considering Chambers' position regarding international bloggers. I still don't believe there should be a rule but posters should be mindful of others. Even news outlets on TV issue spoiler alert  warnings before giving some scores.

I am glad Roy H and Donoghus are in this thread. Guys please respond to my PMs.

I think it's meaningful that the Spurs defense was able to hold Golden State to 79 points with Curry, Thompson, and Green all in the lineup. It's going to be a good Western Conference Finals, for sure.

And no Iggy, the NBA Finals MVP???  And no Bogut, a second team All-NBA defender last year???

That game was in no way meaningful and might even hurt SA come playoff time and give them a false sense of confidence.  Remember, once again, that GS played on the road in Dallas the night before.  Back to backs are hard enough, but back to back road games are the toughest typically.

you can counter this with no Geno or Duncan .  Duncan is playing little than usual to prepare him for the playoffs

Once the Spurs are at full health (vets also giving their all , prob their last years)  , they will be even better too

It will be a war in the west to see who comes out
