If Jamaal Murray=Devin Booker, and Devin Booker=Ray Allen, then Jamaal Murray=Ray Allen.

Right?

SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas

I can see if we miss out on netting a top 3-4 pick,  Danny taking Murray.   The Celtics already are a strong defensive team and could use some more offensive power. Especially a guy who can go off is what the doctor ordered.

Triboy, so assuming you're the GM and select Murray, ahead of Bender and Brown, where do you play him at? Whose minutes does he take? We already have Thomas, Smart, and Bradley, with only Smart being big enough to handle 3's for stretches. This also doesn't include 1st rd picks Rozier and Hunter, neither of which is capable of playing the 3. So what positional versatility does Murray offer?
You give him a lot of Evan Turner's minutes. If they continue to start Bradley and Thomas, then Smart and Murray fit excellently together off the bench.

I'm not really concerned with a short term long jam at the position because if Murray can be a go to scorer then they will make time for him.

Turner can play the 3. It might not be his ideal position defensively, but he has shown an ability to hold his hand at the spot because he has good size. Asking a player like Murray, nearly 3 inches smaller and with an average wingspan do the same, is asking a lot.
Murray will take Turner's responsibilities on offense, and then guard 2's on defense. Smart can guard 3's for short stints if need be, or you can sub Crowder out of the first unit early so he gets time at the 3 with a back court of Smart and Murray.

It's not important what role Murray fills immediately, what is important is if he's going to the be the best player long term. If Murray is the better player long term I'll take him 100% of the time over a guy who is a better fit positionally. You always go best player available, or you will regret it long term.

I don't know why this has to be explained

Murray offense is what this team can use

Evantime34 I disagree Murray will be better than Booker or likely better with the analysis you provided.  We will have to see

Booker then you can say has really jumped to another level in the NBA.

Scorin 30 plus points as a 19 year old is no joke. He is playing better than he did in college

My gut instinct says Danny likes Murray. And would be a real good fit under CBS

I like Murray more but I could see Booker being better. Booker did less as a freshman, but he also wasn't relied upon because that team was much better than this year's version.

Booker seems to be the better athlete, but I think Murray has a better feel for the game. How he is getting himself open as a freshman in college is extremely impressive. He's showing NBA veteran type savvy in terms of using screens as a 19 year old. He's a natural born scorer.

I didn't watch the game last night, were Mudiay and Booker defending each other?
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Both are sneaky athletes. Murray's 39 inch max vert is Phoenominal .  Booker had some top test times in many categories

I agree about the way Murray can run around screens and get free.

Agreed.

Wouldn't be really surprised if he went #3

I think it just depends on how the draft order ends ups. He is definitely a top 5 player.

I had overlooked Murray, but the more I look at him the more he looks like a really nice prospect.

Nice to see another top prospect. If nothing else it could end up improving the value of that Nets pick on the market.

Haha. Murray is 6'4.25" IN shoes. He not only isn't big for a SG, but he's undersized. Has a similar body to Rodney Stuckey.

Per draftexpress and several other sites he is listed as 6'5.
the average height for a sg in the nba is 6' 5.6" with shoes.

the average height for a pg in the nba is 6' 2.1" with shoes.

murray does not appear to be undersized, or if so, just barely.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Is Murray the athlete that Booker is? I'm asking because I don't know, not because I'm skeptical.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

Booker's a little bigger, Murray is a little quicker and better with the ball in his hands, better handle.

I think Murray has a higher Upside.

He's certainly been a much better player in his one college season.

I've seen Murray play a few times this year, almost listed him in the binkie thread. Some concerns about his size/position, but he has a lot of talent. Coach K is utilizing him much differently now than earlier in the season -- from a primary ballhandler to now catch-and-shoot threat with a lot of screen action. He looks to be a better shooter than many thought, hence the comp to Booker.
