I more think all these picks are nice to have but kind of a detriment when we are trading our guys.  Interchangeable parts are good especially when everyone is playing together vs one guy.  I'd rather just enjoy the team basketball. We have a lot of talent.  All these trades where people are trading off Bradley and Sully like they are throw ins are stupid imo. Hopefully ainge can find a way to use these picks or trade them for a player that can actually help this team.  We have guys like Turner, Zeller, Jerebko, Smart, Mickey all playing roles off the bench right now and fitting really well.   KO is out and other players are stepping up.  I like our talent.  These guys need to be allowed to grow.  Better than one guy taking all their minutes.  We bought out Lee because his contract didn't serve any purpose to us anymore and he wasn't getting time here.  This stuff isn't rocket science.  It's really not.  Too much talk about what we don't have vs what we are doing.  Sully is playing great.  So is Bradley.  Smart is coming on.  Isaiah is leading us in scoring.  It's all good stuff.  People were saying KO would be out and it would hurt us and other guys have stepped up.  People were saying Bradley wasn't good enough. Neither was Sully.  The internet is sillyness.

i like this move by ainge

but looking at it from bulls perspective
they arent going to trade butler
as he is their franchise player and future
making him the most unlikely to be traded of all their players

I thought there was a good chance it was Butler after they tried to trade Gasol.

Danny also said that the player they went after wasn't brought up in any trade rumors at the time...

Makes perfect sense to me but again,  we'll never know.

Let's say that trade is back on the table on draft night, and we end up with the first or second pick.  I don't think I could.  Would you still do it?

If it's 3 or down I think I have to, and painfully give up Smart.
that report doesn't seem to suggest the trade was ever on the table.  Going after a player means nothing. We went after love.  We went after Melo.   We went after cousins.  Supposedly we came close to landing Okafor but philly backed out.

I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

What's interesting is that this seems to have come from an agent involved in the potential deal.

Bulpett is the same guy that said the deal at the deadline was Okafur.
I wonder which one is lying to him.
Unless they pursued both guys...can't see us getting both if them with only one 2016 Brooklyn pick.

So it was Melo, PG, Love, Okafor, Butler, and Griffin so far. C's got shot down on everyone. And rumored to only be trying to buy at 80 cents on the dollar. It's beyond funny.

You don't beat GSW without AB and Smart so I def want to keep them. Smart is probably my favorite Celtic.
I love Jae but if you trading for Butler, we should offer something like Bkn 16, Dal 16, Sully, Young and Jae.

Imagine getting Butler without giving up Smart or Crowder ... that'd be a fun team.

Not true. Butler is an excellent defender. Butler can D Thompson while Smart is on Curry.

Keep in mind also that we would want IT getting a lot of minutes. Butler is also 6'7". Right now, we sometimes go small with IT, Smart, AB, Crowder, Center. Swapping out Smart or AB gives us excellent defense still while also gaining quite a few inches in our small ball lineup.

It is possible that the level of ball pressure we can exert with Smart and AB is integral to our success and improving talent while decreasing the ball pressure might have unforeseen negative impacts. On the other hand, some teams won't be bothered by the ball pressure -- especially when they can coach for it in a seven game series.

just as an FYI, there was a thread started not too long ago asking people what they were wrong about.  The individual you're saying that to is the only person in that thread to have said "nothing".

I get the love for Butler but I'd want to team him with Smart, not give up Smart to get him.  I'd listen to requests for anyone else at this point but if I'm trading Smart, I want someone better than Butler.  I'm not saying Butler's a slouch by any means but if I'm moving the 2 best trade chips the C's have, it's got to be for a second-team all NBA player.  Butler's good but not at that level

Butler is a top 15-20 player in the league , and was in the running for MVP before he got injured.

So? We got KG for - in my opinion - way less and he WAS an MVP.

they want to team up Crowder with his old college teammate .

Would you give up Smart and Brk 16 plus other 1st's ? I probably would

Then you sign Horford

IT               / Bradley
Butler         / Turner(Re-signed)
Crowder     / Jerebko
KO            / Mickey
Horford     / Sully (re-signed)
I love Marcus Smart. Hes my favorite Celtic and I think he will have a huge impact on whatever team he plays for.

That said, Id trade Brk '16 + Smart + 2 firsts for Jimmy.

That lineup is lethal.

Good thing you are not our GM.

We'd have to match salaries first.  Jimmy Butler is making $17M a year.  Smart and a bunch of draft picks doesn't come close to that.

good thing the salary cap is going up to 92 mil next year , and we will have 60 mil+ in cap space . Meaning we don't have to match salaries, just take on the salary to our open cap space.

I find this way more believable than it being Okafor.  He makes a lot of sense and could really plug into the system and be playing in a similar way to Crowder out there.  He is a guy who keeps getting better than I expect him to be so that is a good match alongside our group.

Trading Jae Crowder would be bad karma....Dude is the Heart and Soul of this team right now.
