Do we move IT back to 6th man? I know he's deserving to start, but why would have 2 ball dominant guys on the floor at one time? That would allow us to start Smart at PG, and not have to worry about not enough playmaking abilities because we have Simmons as a point forward. The lineup would be similar to the starting lineup of last year, where we had ET to help Smart with ball handling and playmaking

Smart
AB
Crowder
Simmons
Amir
6th man - IT

That would also allow us to keep the best defensive backcourt we could have in the starting lineup, and be one of the only teams to pose an actual defensive threat to Golden States backcourt. We would be able to throw either AB or Smart at Curry and the other on Klay, and not have to worry about Klay torching us. One of the big reasons we almost won back in december, was because Klay was out and we were able to put AB on curry and IT was able to guard like Ian Clark or someone. Thoughts?
CB Mock Deadline - Minnesota Timberwolves
Kemba Walker / Tyus Jones / Aaron Brooks
Jimmy Butler / Jamal Crawford / Treveon Graham
Rodney Hood / Nic Batum / Marcus Georges Hunt
Taj Gibson / Nemanja Bjelica / Jonas Jerebko
KAT / Derrick Favors / Cole Aldrich
Picks - 2018 CHA 1st (Lotto protected), none out

IT will remain a starter as long as he is in Boston. He has earned it. The only acceptable way that brad benches IT is if Kyrie gets benched in favor of Delavadova.

You think Delavadova is equivalent to Smart?

If they take Simmons be prepared for probably not a lot of help from him next season.  He's nowhere close to being ready.  Plus he can't shoot from outside - which in today's game is a problem.

I'm not handing the reins to Simmons from day one. IT will remain the starter and Simmons can grow as the system allows it. I'd say it is more likely to affect Turner's chances of being re-signed, although given his play of late I'd want to bring him back too!

I'd prefer to bring Simmons off the bench at first. IT is a proud man and there's no need to rustle his feathers by benching him for a rookie. Simmons can get still get 30 minutes/game coming off the bench alongside Smart, and generally speaking I think it's better to let rookies adjust to the NBA by coming off the bench for their first year - it's just such a massive leap from college level competition to facing NBA starters.

The last time Simmons came off the bench for LSU, he seemed disinterested and moody. Hope he doesn't have attitude problems at the next level
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

agreed. very often on this board i see opinions that say "draft (fill in with your draft binky)" and the celtics will be in great shape.

yet, the story for almost all rookies is that their first year they are not world beaters. most of the rookies who get a lot of court time are on bad teams.

plus, CBS has shown the world that he is willing to let rookies get playing time in the dleague, not as nba starters.

simmons may break this pattern. but i am not convinced he is that good right now.

if you want instant improvement, cheer for ainge to make a trade, not draft a kid.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

If we get Simmons he should immediately start at the 4. He has the athleticism to help by rolling hard to the hoop. He is good enough to immediately make his mark rebounding pushing the ball in transition and catching alley oops.

I would slowly bring him along in terms of ball handling responsibilities. I also think he would work a lot better with olynyk next to him than anyone we currently have.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Simmons would be starting in no time at all. He may bring him off the bench, but not for long.
Simmons would start over Sully in no time flat at PF.

We play Turner and IT together, why couldn't Simmons and IT play together?  IT can play off the ball as a spot up shooter, and Simmons has shown he's very unselfish.   Versatility, makes us harder to defend.

Why not for the first year pair the future off the bench let KO play with the starters.
Starters: IT, AB, Crowder, KO, AJ
 First Guard= Smart, First Wing=Turner, First Big=Simmons

"Based on his size and athleticism, Simmons is the best fit for a small forward position in the NBA. However, he could definitely play the power forward position, much like superstar Carmelo Anthony, who occasionally plays the position for the New York Knicks."
