i'd rather focus on the team on the floor and I'm assuming Danny is too. thinking about what other teams may or may not do as far as who we should keep or cut is a horrible way to run a team.

the guy didn't want to be here. he wasn't going to help us because he could never play well weather it was because of desire, ability, or fit is debatable, but ultimately moot. it was a bad signing, if you need more proof? we cut him when Olynyk got injured...we sure could have used someone to fill in in his absence.

move on.

He wasn't signed, he was traded for using even poorer assets.

That in the end it didn't work and couldn't use him in a bigger trade, so be it...

He is the last of the Money we had to take on to get three Lottery picks from the Nets. Great haul. What has Gerald Wallace brought to a team this year?  Nothing Lee was a good swap. DA showed if you are Vet and you are under contract he will help you find a team and that will go a long way in Free agency.

There's a good posibility we sign someone of the waivers that's better for us then he was.
Btw when's the deadline for signing waived players or FA's?

The last day of the regular season. For them to be eligible for the playoffs they can not have been on an NBA roster on March 1.

My guess is that the Celtics might be looking for a passable defensive stopper in the middle. This person might not be better Lee, but could provide 'some' resistance against players like Drummond.

I couldn't believe there wasn't some sort of agreement out there that he wouldn't join the Nets or Mavs. Simply put, they would not have won last night's game without Lee and that one game could easily make a difference in the standings. Absolutely horrible decision to just buy him out (for essentially his whole contract anyway!)
You can't believe that? There would never be any sort of agreement like that. Guys will sign with the situation they like best.

I'll take the roster spot. Having a scrub with a non-guaranteed contract for next season adds more flexibility for offseason trades than keeping Lee.

Yet another occasion where he built good will with an agent, which is also good.

kinda good he put up good numbers, now they have to play Net Negative Lee!

Yes his play is simular to Melo .....his numbers mean nothing .....if everything else he does on the court absolutely sucks .

Players like Melo , Lee, Gay ,  etc.......less of them is actually MORE basketball .....and more wins.

Lee wasn't going to do a darn thing for this team going forward this season.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Seems like he can still produce, good for him.

I was excited when he was traded, but he just didn't fit the system. I think we all thought that he was just a trade chip to begin with, so I see no regrets in buying him out.

Glad he did good for Dallas, though. I hope he keeps doing it, I am a big fan since his GSW days in 2010.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I don't always agree with Chris22, but for people to keep saying that Lee's 14-14 meant absolutely nothing just because he was a -9 is pretty short sighted. +/- is a very basic stat and while it can be useful in determining if a player is effective over the course of a stretch of games, using it for single game purposes doesn't always tell the whole story.

It is pretty obvious that Lee's solid performance helped push the Mavs into overtime and eventually win the game - which totally sucks for our pick. Just because the whole team wasn't better as whole with him out there doesn't mean he wasn't doing well enough to keep the team afloat.

Good for Lee i hope he succeeds in Dallas.

He's always been a good player but he didn't fit our system and he didn't get a good chance with us here. We've got youth in the front court that needed minutes. Dallas is a veteran laden team and Lee fits in nicely with their team.

Dallas won 128-101
Lee had 13 points and 9 rebounds in 22 minutes.
He was a +7

I had the same concerns as I knew he could play
And with the mavs he's on the right system
Can pass, dribble, score, no defense

But the again I doubt the mavs fall out of the lottery so not really a loss
Looking at it
It probably puts them ahead of Grizzlies so a 1 spot jump

We didnt have much of a choice with Lee.  Danny wasn't about to burn any good will with agents / other vets by keeping Lee hostage on this team.

Danny is a players GM and other agents and and vets can be assured being treated right on this team.
