Did Iverson even play more of his career in Philly than Dr J did?
Iverson left to play in Denver for a few years. Retired early. What did he play? 8 seasons in Philly? Did he really play that much more than Dr J?
Edit: Looked it up. Iverson had 10 full seasons in Philly and bit parts of two others (15 games + 25 games, total of 40 games = half a season) and overall Iverson played 722 games for Philly. Dr J played 11 seasons in Philly and played 836 games.
He had less games, but ended up with more total points and a significantly higher ppg average. And while Iverson had 114 less games he actually played 1200 more minutes than Erving did.
And had less success.
AI did make the finals in Philly, just like Dr. J did, it wasn't until the Doctor had a guy named Moses that the Sixers made it over the hump. You could also argue that Mo Cheeks and D. Dawkins were as good a teammate as anyone AI had in his time in Philly.
Dr. J could play with other stars. AI couldn't.
AI was never given the chance in Philly and he played fairly well with Anthony in Denver. In fact, in 07/08 both Iverson and Anthony had their most efficient shooting seasons ever playing together.
