Closet Steve Novak fan after he dropped five 3s on #Twolves here March '14. Celtics + Bucks among teams kicking tires on him, I hear. No MN.

Rather have Kevin Martin if he is bought out .

Never hurts to have a deadeye at the end of the bench.

There'd have to be a lot of injuries for the team to need his services, though, except I guess if they want to put him in at the end of the game for an ATO play when they absolutely need a three.

Would like both personally.

Me too, though he might be looking for minutes. Novak would take any job offered,

Novak is a better spot up shooter, Martin is a better scorer in his ability to get to the line by drawing contact. I'll take Novak because for our teams needs. He's someone you can't leave open and will allow Thomas more room to operate.

They're both awful defensively, but Novak is at least really tall.

I'd rather not sign a veteran to replace Lee. Lee wasn't playing anyway so I don't want to bring in a guy who will expect to get minutes.

I'd probably rather give RJ or Young any minutes Novak would otherwise get.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz

Remember how so many of us were excited a few years ago when they signed Troy Murphy off the scrapheap?

Remember how well that worked out?  ;D

Novak won't get any minutes, hardly.  He plays the stretch 4, so conceivably could be in line for minutes if Jerebko went down, but those aren't going to James Young anyway.  Despite being rarely used since the beginning of last season, he's still over 40% from 3 -- in other words, he's a guy who can come in cold off the bench and be an option late in a playoff game when you desperately need a 3.  That's something worth having, and unlike a lot of players, that's a role he's more likely to be okay with.  But barring injury, he's a benchwarmer with a specific skill that might be useful once in a playoff series.  Those are the players you get in buyout deals.  In my opinion, he should be one of our prime targets.

People keep mentioning Kevin Martin, but I'd be shocked if he's bought out.  He has a $7.4 million player option next year -- if he were willing to forego that, he'd have been traded yesterday.

Jerebko isn't the shooter Novak is, but he can at least play defense at the 4.

This Celtics team is about winning. While I don't think they are delusional enough to believe they can contend, I do believe they want to win every game possible before the season comes to an end in the playoffs. What that means is if a get is out there that can give this team more than a rookie, that get is going to be signed and used.

Hunter, Rozier, Mickey and Young aren't going to start getting rotational minutes. They just aren't that good right now and this team doesn't care that we the fans want to see the young guys to evaluate them. The Front office and coach have done all the evaluating they need to do in practice. When the kids get good enough to earn playing time they will get it, not before.

Novak is one of those players--if you leave him open, he'll hit the 3pointer 9.5 times out of 10....like Korver.

I wonder if Ainge is going to target someone else with the available roster slot. A younger player, perhaps on a two- or a one-plus-one-year deal, using exception money.
