David Lee just got bought out.

Really hoping he doesn't go to the Nets.

He'll get plenty of minutes and immediately becomes their third best player and in NYC, he's got a big stage AND motivation.

Hope Danny had a wink-wink with him about "no Nets".

He's probably going to a contender though, right?

Doesn't sound like it. This from RealGM:

Quote
David Lee is believed to be prioritizing the opportunity to play minutes over joining a team with championship aspirations.

If he wanted to stay with a team that has championship aspirations, there are only a handful of teams with a better shot to make it to the NBA Finals than Boston.  Which of those teams would want Lee?

He might be a decent option for Atlanta (not that I'd say they're championship caliber), who are pretty thin on bigs.

What about the heat? Since bosh may be out? They have amare Haslem and mcroberts?

Rooting for Riley (God,I feel dirty!!!) over the Nets, that's for sure .

Maybe Lee could go to Memphis.  They need some big man play and still has playoff wishes.

If we've got a roster spot it would be worthwhile to sign a D-Leaguer to a 10 day contract.  Think of it as an extended tryout.  Omari Johnson and Levi Randolph have been pretty good at Maine.  Signing one would be a good reward, and would be a good signal to that team that good play may get rewarded.

I'd take K-Mart.  His best days are probably behind him but he averaged 20 ppg last year and with IT seemingly a permanent starter we could use a perimeter scorer off the bench.  And he's much better than Novak.  Guys with legit 2/3 size seem like our biggest need that we can realistically fill right now, and we have enough perimeter D to cover up for his deficiencies on that end.

If he does get bought out Joe Johnson is the player I'd want.  It'd be a nice player to come off our bench and be a veteran in the locker room.  Plus he'd still be able to give us scoring off the bench and give Crowder some rest when he needs it.  Kevin Martin would be a guy I'm interested in as well.  He could be an interesting piece to add with his 3 point shooting.

If needing to replace a center or power forward depending on KO's injury we could do one of two things.  We either let Mickey come up and play and see what he's got.  Or I'd be interested in J.J. Hickson.

Joe Johnson is widely expected to be a Cavalier if bought out.

Danny was unable to swing a deal to significantly strengthen this team -- and he did not want to expend excessive resourses on a rental.  This tells me that Danny has accepted that this continues to be building year that hopefully will yield some excitement, but nothing more than that in the absense of successive timely injures to Kyle Lowry, Lebron James and Steph Curry.

So, why not go all out Jordan Mickey rather than taking a flyer on any guy who just brings a small bump at best to the team?

If Novak or Martin are available, I'd just as soon use those minutes on Young or Hunter and see what those guys have to offer.

Kevin Martin intrigues me the most out of the candidates (and by that I mean very little) because of his 3-pt shooting but at the same time things are clicking right now as it is and there's no need to add another guy to the rotation when things are clicking. Brad already had a hard enough time figuring out who to play and who not to play earlier this year.

what about getting greg smith a look?
Currently plays in the d-league
Always had big games against us when he was with houston.
Big body, great rebounder.

Could be needed given injuries.

Not a great upside move but certainly a no risk move

I'd rather just sign one of the D-League All-Star guys and hope I hit the lottery on it.
