C's , Cavs, Pelican 3 team deal in works?(Rumor) UPDATES on pg 1

The more I look at this the more I think that David Lee won't be involved. His salary would need to got to NO which would push them towards the tax. Whatever way it's done they would add salary for this season which I doubt they'd want to do.

For Cleveland a return of Bradley and Anderson is actually pretty fantastic for Love, add in a sprinkling of picks and I can see why they would do it.

So with that in mind I think if a deal materialises it will be:

To Boston: Love

To Cleveland: Anderson, Bradley, Jerebko, DAL 2016 1st, couple of 2nds, BOS 2018 1st

To NO: Sullinger, Cunningham, BOS 2016 1st

I think that's pretty fair for all involved

That would be a steal for us on top of the fact we can't use all those picks, we would become a college team!

Yep, I'm not concerned by the picks, they will be in the 20's. Plus we have plenty of other picks as you say. Giving up Bradley hurts but that is the price for getting a player like Love. Sully and Jerebko would lose a lot of minutes to Love so I'm less concerned losing them, I see Love as a consolidation and improvement on their talent.

What this trade would also do is give us two extra roster spots for a subsequent trade or for buyout candidates

I'm starting to get worried the only way we will obtain a star is through the draft. And please do not tell me signing Horford would be considered signing a star. He is not a star. Yeah, total supposition but it feels like Cleveland was willing to gauge Love's value and targeted Anderson as a replacement, we tried to get in as the 3rd team, but there wasn't enough there for Cleveland and/or NO for the talks get much traction.  NO possibly demanded the BRK pick, which would explain why the NO guy in the original post was talking about a shot at Ben Simmons, but we said no and that was pretty much that. 

Interesting rumor anyway, but it was probably just Danny taking another swing at getting Love for relatively small pieces and being shot down.

Man I would get it if the Nets pick would be top 2, but the suns will take the nets place, leaving Brooklyn at 4 so again, what is the genius plan for people against love?

Yeah that could've happened too. But very frustrating to see them stand pat this year. The team is ready to contend and is truly one player away.

Yeah that could've happened too. But very frustrating to see them stand pat this year. The team is ready to contend and is truly one player away.

It is, though the day's not over yet.  We need some kind of major consolidating move or moves somewhere in the next 6 months.  But I don't think Love at this stage is elite enough to be that one player, and give up the Brooklyn pick plus at least one rotation player to get him. 

We have no idea what was or wasn't thrown around but running with my own assumptions I'm ok with us passing on that.

There's this thing called the lottery.  Even at 4 we have a 25% chance at a top 2 pick.  31% if we're at 3. 

I agree with you about Love though.  The whole he is/isn't a star thing is ridiculous.  He makes us better.  That's worth spending assets on.

I wouldn't worry about that. C's do have draft picks. Often it is drafted players more so than signed players that actually fill out a roster around the stars. Think Spurs and even C's. Lenard, Parker Ginobli on rookie deals. Perk, TA, Powe, Davis and Rondo for C's.

Ainge won't even consider Crowder for Love straight up. We know this because Ainge is on record the last two days saying two things:

1. He values some individual Celtics more than the Nets pick.
(1a. There's no way Crowder would not be among that "some".)

2. He values the Nets pick more than Love.

Therefore:

3. He values Crowder alone much more than Love.

(Caveat: Ainge could be lying.)
