Why should we move the Brooklyn pick for Horford considering that he's going to be a FA this summer.
It wouldn't be unheard of. The Cavs moved Wiggins for free agent to be Kevin Love.
In any trade like that, it all depends upon what the player's agent is saying behind closed doors.
True, but the Cavs didn't have cap room to just sign Love in the offseason and still keep Wiggins right?
If we did this it would be more like when the Knicks gave up Mozgov, Gallo, Wilson Chandler, and a 1st for Melo. Not as dumb though, because Melo was always gonna end up in NY no matter what.
What do you think Melo's agent was saying? Yeah, we'll definitely
resign with you, but when it comes to signing as a FA, we're not sure? Or did the Knicks really think Melo was going to lead them from a bad team to a championship in that same season?
Regardless, Love was a top 5 player/MVP contender averaging 26.1, 12.5, and 4.4 while making 2.5 3s a game at 38% when the Cavs gave up Wiggins.
If the lottery balls go our way and we get Simmons or Ingram, I'd hope to get an MVP contender in exchange rather than a guy like Horford.
Why wouldn't we roll the dice and see where our pick is before we trade it? We're basically playing with house money. Worst case scenario we get like the 6th pick and end up with another Marcus Smart caliber player?
