Classless display from a classless coach. I've never liked him, he's such a arrogant coach. It is very hypocritical to publicly roast a player like that because he is calling out someone for being disrespectful but calling him out publicly is also disrespectful. This should have been handled in house.

I don't know I dislike Bill Self because he recruits draft prospects and buries them behind upper class men but those comments were pretty inocous. Looks like the players were already shaking hands so to try to show up the other team in one of the bigger games of the season against your instate wasn't the best choice.

I bet there were a ton of alumni at the game putting pressure on Self to speak out against his player's actions.

I totally agree, I also don't like that he buries top recruits and doesn't play to their strengths, instead he makes them fit his system. That probably influenced my opinion of these comments of his because I already didn't like Bill Self. I'm still against the comments though, this is a college kid, in the big picture it's not a huge deal, he didn't even call him out in a classy way, a coach saying d--- move and a coach saying p---ed off just makes him look like a fool, not a leader which a coach should be, especially a college coach. But I expect nothing from Bill Self, dudes got a plantation mentality.

Self really needs to bury his upper classmen who can play in favor of freshman who can't, but who we all want to see because they might be better draft prospects.  So "Self"ish.

Good on him for calling out his player for a totally classless move. I have 0 problem with what the coach did.
My biases, in order of fervor:
Pro:
Smart, Brown, Hayward, Tatum, Kemba, Grant Williams, Sleepy Williams, Edwards!

Anti:
Kanter, Semi, Theis, Poierier

Part of his job is to get players ready for the nba which means playing top freshman recruits and playing around their skills. If that isn't part of his job then don't make players go to college.

He could have handled it privately instead of roasting him publicly. And really, it was a dunk at the end of the game in the grand scheme of things, it's not a big deal. The kid didn't exactly murder someone. Talking to him one on one privately would have been enough. And publicly he could have said what we say is between us. Players get criticized for criticizing coaches, refs etc to the media. Bill Self should too

I don't mind him apologizing to KSU, that dunk at the end was pretty disrespectful.  But I don't like the tone that he used in how he described his player.  It made what Greene did worse because he was such an **** in calling him out in that way.  Self has had an incredible run at KU with all those big12 championship seasons, and I respect him as a coach but I think he is a complete ****.

I disagree.

This isn't exactly his first rodeo with Brennan Greene, anyone else I think he probably does it privately.  Not sure if that totally justifies how he handled the situation, but there is probably some context lacking here if people are just taking it at face value.

Full Disclosure: I went to law school at KU and was probably the only person on that campus that disliked Bill Self.  That is probably just the NBA guy in me.

i am next to positive that no where in his contract does it say he is required to prepare his college players for the nba.

how cute. you call out someone for their tone, by using a similar tone in your own writing.  ;D
