Read an article on here earlier (that I can't find now) that CLE was actually really close last year to dealing KLove for Isaiah Thomas and Markieff (sp?) Morris.

As crazy as that is, it begs the question, should we look into a similar trade?

As great as IT4 has been for us, his size will always present problems, particularly in the postseason.  It's simply better to have a great big scorer than a great really small one.  His rebounding is also another benefit, of course.

What about IT4 and Sully for Love?

I admit it would hurt to lose IT4's offense, and having both Thomas and Love could be awesome, but if that's the only way, it still leaves us with Bradley who has a good offensive game now and Smart who seems to be ever improving.

Smart, Bradley, Crowder, Love, Johnson?  Olynyk to learn from Love.  Then having the ability to draft possibly Crowder's replacement?  (Imagine Simmons in the lineup and we're looking great, no?)

As the final question here, it seems we're also considered the top possible landing spot for Roy Hibbert by many.  Do we take a chance there that Stevens could use his strengths in a way that makes him as effective as he was in Indiana.  The trade I saw proposed Lee and a draft pick (I think 2nd rounder).

So, in theory, we could get Love and Hibbert, both.

Smart / Bradley / Crowder (to be replaced by pick) / Love / Hibbert

could really pump some excitement into this team, especially with having given up next to nothing to kick the tires on Hibbert.

What say you, experts?

Honestly, I'm lukewarm on Love, and at the moment not all that interested in him. He's toxic.

You can say the same also on Love's Defense.

Give me Jerebko over Love to be honest. 37 or so from 3 is good, but not great. His rebounding and passing would be handy.

I really think the whole "bad fit/using him wrong" thing could be why people perceive him this way now, though.  Coming out of Minnesota he seemed to be the guy that could carry this franchise to the next level.

Having played in that system might even help him if he finally gets to a team he can be himself and be the focal point again.  He might really appreciate it now and take charge and let loose.

Dragan Bender looks somewhat more exciting to me.

No, this was true even then. Back then a benefit of the doubt was given because he was in a losing situation, now he's with one of the best teams in the league and he's still a toxic locker room presence, and his defense still sucks.

So if he's toxic on a bad team, toxic on a good team, not showing competence in being a Robin to another Batman, then what's the use?

A lot of money being tied up on him, and he's always been an injury concern.

I'd worry about the cost of acquiring him, and I worry even more that he's actually an answer, but rather more questions. I worry about his dwindling market trade value if acquired and doesn't work.

I think that any trade that brings Love here will involve either Crowder or Bradley+ Thomas.

Plus Amir for salary +depth to Cleveland.

Kevin Love has become so under rated since joining the Cavs.
Ultimate buy low candidate.

He'd be great here.  I'm totally for it.

Completely underrated.
Serious buy low candidate for Danny.

He'll be offering Bradley+IT+Amir and the Cavs will be asking for Crowder as an unconditional part of any Love trade.
If we could replace Crowder with some first round picks and send them Avery and IT we'd have the foundations of a true contender.
We just need Crowder and Smart around Love for defensive help.
Getting Dwight Howard here would help too.

The biggest threat to us getting Kevin Love is the Heat swapping Bosh and Whiteside for Love and Mozgov IMO.

He'd be great here but I'd rather have IT than Love. I don't do a trade if IT is involved. Not for his production and contract currently.

He hasn't been good for a year and a half, but he was putting up HISTORIC numbers in Minnesota, and we are very quick to forget that. Right now he's playing like a glorified Ryan Anderson with a massive contract. I'd be willing to "overpay" for him if he's valued as such, but we cannot offer even half as much as Cleveland got for him.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

I think ultimately you have to because Kevin love at age 27 can be a top 10 player under Brad Stevens and a #1 or #2 option.
I love IT, but if we had to give him up for Love, I pull the trigger immediately.
We're going to have to give up Crowder and IT or Crowder and Bradley.
If we gave up Bradley+IT+Amir+future Brooklyn pick  and somehow kept Smart and Crowder we'd be so lucky.

This is a guy who can still put up top 10 numbers - he's just not getting the opportunity as the 3rd fiddle right now.

I like love but he needs a good defensive center next to him
