Interesting article on ESPN about the potential of Brooklyn signing Kevin Durant:  http://espn.go.com/blog/brooklyn-nets/post/_/id/23429/examining-a-seemingly-implausible-scenario-durant-to-nets

Probably unlikely, but speaks to one of the reasons I don't value those future Brooklyn picks all that much.  They play in Brooklyn and will have cap space... you can't rule out the possibility of them building a competent team regardless of having no draft picks.

This season is panning out wonderfully, though.  Gotta love the potential to add a top 5 pick from them this Summer.

Moral of the story, no future draft pick is safe because of the slim chance of having Kevin Durant join their forces. Got it.

What if Durant signs with the Celtics this summer?

"Kevin, pick any other FA you want (Batum?) and we'll sign him to whatever you want. Then it'll be you, him, Crowder, Smart, AB, IT, KO, whoever we get in trade for the Cs and Mavs picks, and the ___ pick in the 2016 draft playing for one of the best coaches in the game."

Sounds pretty interesting to me.

How dismissive would the OP be if it were talking about the possibility of Durant signing with the Cs? Either way, it's nonsense.

Draft picks are always scary if you are counting on them to yield the next superstar.  We really didn't worry much about the Clips pick just as we aren't that anxious about the Mavs pick.  We HOPE and root for the Mavs pick to bring something good, but we aren't counting on it.

The Nets picks are a true gamble.  Right now, the value of the 2017 swap and the 2018 pick I would think is pretty strong.  Futures money is on those picks.  But they are defnitely a gamble. Both picks plummet immediately in value if KD signs there.

I'd be very interested in trading 2017 and 2018 if a package for a top 20 player becomes possible.  2016 is looking worth it to hold onto -- especially with the Nets looking a bit worse over the last couple of weeks.

What if Brooklyn signs Evan Turner this summer?

http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2016/01/nets-interested-in-nicolas-batum-evan-turner.html

Honestly thatd be a nice fit for Turner, it'd be good for him to get some consistent minutes again. To Brooklyn it's zero risk, ok reward.

and that speaks to the reason very few put any stock in anything you say.  as someone else said previously, if the article said Celtics instead of Nets (which would be a far more likely scenario) you'd bash that possibility as a ridiculous impossibility.

What if I'm playing backgammon? Where does that leave me?  ;D

As for Durant, as KG so succinctly put it: Anything's possiblllllllllle.

That said, I really can't see Durant going anywhere besides Washington (near his hometown) or back to OKC (where he's had a great career so far). Brooklyn will probably always play second fiddle to the Knicks, and besides that, Durant doesn't seem like the "want to be in the spotlight" type à la Melo, so I can't see him playing in New York or L.A. What about Boston? Sure, it's worth a try, and hopefully Danny does, but I think it's highly unlikely he ends up a Celtic.

What if Fuzzy wuzzy was not a bear?

What if a one legged duck did not swim in a circle?

What if water were not wet?

What if Ainge were really a Yankees fan?
