Pelton suggested trading Sullinger, who would be a decent fit next to KAT. The Wolves might like a guy who can hit a mid-range shot and bang on the inside to save KAT a bit.

Assuming for a second that the Wolves would want Sullinger (even though it doesn't make sense to me) ...

The question I have is, if you got the feeling that Lavine or Muhammad were available, which one would you want and what kind of picks, if any, would you be willing to offer for one of them.

Sully is their Man, just give us Deing, or maybe even Shabaz.

Only players I like we could possibly get from them are Dieng and Lavine.  I don't think we could really get Lavine though.  I think they want to keep him.

Did the article mention who he thinks would make sense for Sully?

No, in fact, for a "Trade" article, it was relatively depleted of trade ideas. Just mentioned that the Wolves want a true PF to put next to KAT, and Sully's mid-range game and rebounding made sense.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I'd have to imagine Danny would take just about any young player who still has a year or two left on his rookie contract for Sullinger. Decision time is just a few short months away and we will either have to match a large contract offered by another team or let him go.

It's best to gauge interest now to see how interested other teams are and whether or not they will be willing to overpay for him in the offseason.

A Dieng for Sully trade straight up might make sense for both teams. Give them their pick(s) back and perhaps the Dallas first if they are willing to trade Lavine.

Sully could not land us Levine without other assets.   You think the other team wants a guy who has trouble with weight and is a suspect shooter.   I bet they would want KO at the least.

Remember when there was a debate about Sully versus KO? It seems like you assume that KO is the better player now (I don't know what you thought before)? I just thought that is an interesting aspect to this. There seems to be an understanding now that KO is a better player with higher potential.

To me the logic target would be a sully + minor asset(2nds or1 late 1st) for Muhammad. Clears up Cs big man jam and adds a wing who could be a nice long term scoring option off the bench

Yeah Muhammad seems like a good target. He's been struggling a bit this year and would give us some wing depth.

Great words from a great man

I'm not sure Lavine is good enough to justify sending Sully and more stuff on top of that. Not for us necessarily.

I don't really need or want Lavine taking minutes from Avery, Marcus, or IT.

The problem on the team is the bigs. Sully is one of our better ones. I don't love the options. I picked LaVine straight up. I think I want to revise that

Pelton quotes:

"The most obvious hole in the Timberwolves' starting five of the future is a power forward who can stretch the floor next to Karl-Anthony Towns."

"Sullinger is another impending free agent who could fit the Timberwolves' desire to play big while also providing needed floor spacing."

He's clearly never really watched Sullinger play basketball.

Do you want to get rid of him or not?
