And Danny loves long wingspaned athletes that can play defense.

To have very long arms and be a great shooter is the exception and not the rule. I'm not talking about a four or five inch difference. I'm talking about having a wingspan 10% greater than your height.

 Bob williams 6'8" 7'6 wingspan
Durant 6'9" 7'6" wingspan

 Rondo 6'1"  arms 6'9"
 Smart 6'2"   arms 6'9.25"
 Rozier 6'0.75" arms 6'8.25"

All these guys not tremendous shooters, at least not yet.

Durant is the exception not the rule.

Reddick best 3p% right now arms are shorter than his height by 1 inch, 6'3" wingspan

Curry maybe the best shooter ever. 6'2" arms 6'3.5" wingspan

 Dirk. 7' with a 7'1" wingspan.
Larry Bird was 6'9" no wingspan numbers but he
had average looking arms.
Reggie Miller 6'7" 6'11" wingspan

What players could were elite shooters with a wingspan ratio better than 10% of height

Brandon Ingram would definitely be an exception.

 Other all time shooters

 Steve Kerr short arms
 Steve Nash 6'5" wingspan
 Ray Allen 6'5" with a 6'8" wingspan
Reggie Miller he was pretty long had to be almost 7' wingspan at 6'7" height.

You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

I'll state the obvious in KO.

On another note, this thread could go the wrong way in a racial discussion quickly.

Yeah Durant is one of the super long shooters, any guess on the other.

And Pho, Dirk does not have a long wingspan compared to his height.

Maybe it has more to do with the size of the hands/length of the fingers than anything...

It's been brought up many times that Rondo's poor free throw shooting might be due to the size of his hands and the ball staying in his hands longer during the shooting motion.

Leonard is leading the NBA in 3 point %, his wingspan is huge.

I actually buy the arm length theory more than hand size.

Jordan had the biggest hands ever. Good shooter.

Another reason Ingram is so special 7'3" wingspan with a beautiful touch from deep. Very rare.

my guess is its more technique more than any thing out there. Solid mechanics translate into a accurate shot. And that requires countless hours of practice, we always here the stories of ray throwing up thousands of shots in the gym.

Jamber, don't bring up stuff like that please.

This is not about black or white, Just long vs short. Both black and white people have long and short arms.

My good friend is 6'2" with a 6'9" wingspan, and he's white.

Don't go there, just no need.

Just wanted to put it out there so that nobody says anything disrespectful. The original post listed three black players with long arms who are poor shooters and three (plus Steph) white players with shorter arms who are among the greatest.

I think I disagree a little bit with the original premise. There are probably a lot more people in the general population (black, white, etc.) without humongous wingspans. Of these people, only the supremely skilled can make it to the highest level. Longer wingspan guys are often chosen based on potential and length and not necessarily their amazing shooting, as this can be worked on. It is one of the reasons so many people were upset we took Olynyk over Giannis, as Giannis is still considered to have an unlimited ceilling while KO is seen as more of finished product (Note: KO has made significant strides, especially regarding his defense and proven many of his doubters wrong).
