Crowder has taken multiple steps forward since joining this team. As have Avery, IT and Smart. If he can keep this up, which I think he can, he has a very bright future. He's shown such a wide variety of ways to score in the past couple months, with that on top of his incredible work ethic, it's hard to imagine him regressing much.

He's on a similar trajectory to DeMarre Carroll, albeit with a higher ceiling. He'll likely never develop into a Jimmy Butler type player, but it sure seems like he could manage 18/6/4 on good percentages with elite defense as a starting swing going forward. I'm amazed at his progress so far with us. He's literally 6 months into his first deal (5yr/35M) and it already looks like one of the best contracts in the NBA! For a guy who's like 24 or 25 and obviously still improving. Just imagine how good that contract looks in 2 or 3 years.

He and Smart are the heart and soul of this team, and I'd like them to be the heart and soul of the next great Celtics contender. Crowder, considering all his improvements and increasingly substantial role, might be my favorite post big 3 Celtic so far.

Jae's "ceiling" keeps rising.  Ceilings aren't supposed to do that.   With an off-season to devote purely to shooting, I really don't know what to expect.  I'd be hesitant to limit thinking on what this guy can do.

i hope you are correct with the bolded numbers above, but i am not sure he will reach those.

i think crowder is a very good player. but when the celtics get those fabled "star players" to push them towards more championships, i believe crowder's role and minutes will change. specifically, he will be relied upon for skills other than scoring as others score points.

for now, he is a primary scorer on a team that lacks much firepower. when the celtics get another scorer or two, i expect crowder's numbers to be similar to what they are now, or lower.

this is not a knock on crowder. rather, i see part of his current production as being a product of the current team talent and team plays. as the team gets better players his role will change, which is a good thing and i believe he will adapt help the celtics win.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Crowder gets fouled every time he drives to the basket, but the refs refuse to call it.

He is on my ESPN fantasy team. His stat line for the past 15 games (not including Dallas tonight)

33.8 mpg    6.6/13.3 fg   .492 fg%   3.6/4.4 ft   .800 ft%   2.1 3 point makes per game   5.2 rb   2.4 ast   2.1st   0.6 blk   18.8 ppg

I have noted he has been getting more and more shots per game as the season has worn on. I am wondering if Stevens is growing him into our 1st option on offense (aside from IT)

he's not nearly as good as Celtics fans think. he's good but he'll level off eventually.

While I think this is true, we had guys who thought he is an all star, he is not.  But he is a credible NBA starter.

I wouldn't mind one bit if he leveled off at his December level of production (which isn't as good as his January production). 16 points, 5 boards, 2 assists, terrific defense, leadership, 82% from the line and locked up at 7% of the cap for the next 4 1/2 years during the prime of his career. How could you go wrong with that?

Here is another way to look at it:

Player A Per 36: 17.5 points / 3.5 rebounds / 3.8 assists / 1.1 steals, plays two positions (SF is one of them), 24 years old and is known as a good defensive player.

Player B Per 36: 16.3 points / 5.8 rebounds / 2.1 assists / 2.0 steals. plays two positions (SF is one of them), 25 years old and is an even better defensive player.

Player A is Khris Middleton who is widely thought to be a bargain at 5 years, $70m. Player B is Crowder who signed for exactly half that amount.
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

Other than the top five or so who we have no chance of getting , he is probably the best player Celtics can get at this point.

Celtics fan are very lucky to have him .  If you think diff then you have watched no basketball

Dallas major screw up , letting him go and not developing .

The handful of stars better are all old or unattainable.

Danny has not made a bad trade in a long time. He is laying low until the right time. Jae was a steal.

I think Jared Dudley is a great comparison.
