If he can keep this production up, oh boy. We have him locked up with a 5yr/35mil deal.

One more time, PLAYERS WANT TO BE WANTED! Jae is so happy to be a Celtics b/c he was given a consistent chance to prove he belongs. Whenever he talks about being a Celts (he does a lot) he is always glowing, the man really loves where he is in his basketball life, I'm sure that gives him extra motivation to hold onto his spot.

If he finishes the year this way, he has to be most improved. He is playing like a monster!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

He's a Demarre Carroll / Trevor Ariza style small forward.  He's a really nice piece to have at that price.  One of the best non-rookie contracts in the league.

JC isn't quite walking on water yet, but he is the brightest point of the season so far for me. It is not only that his numbers are good, which he maintained through the recent rough trot, but he is contributing to the improved play of others.

Like others have said, I feel like we are set at SF now and can concentrate on other positions. I think he has almost proved that he is good enough for that.

Is he better than Rondo, at the level he is playing now with the kings?

He can't do that. It's not the NFL nor will Jae be a free agent for another 5 years. Once players are signed on, they can't restructure their deals.

Absolutely.  I have zero doubts that Jae makes this team better, and would have a role on any winning team in the league.

Rondo?  Yeah, no, I couldn't say that about him.

Factor in their contracts and it's no contest.

I'm pretty sure that's how the NFL works. I've never heard of that happening in the NBA, at least not recently.

One thing Ainge has done masterfully is set up the core of this team with great value deals. Crower, Thomas, and Bradley are our top 3 players this season, and are all locked in on great contracts, which will allow us to spend big $$$ on whatever superstar players we go after and still keep a fantastic, young, and experienced group around them. Add to that Smart, Mickie, Rosier on rookie deals, financial mastery.

On this we wholeheartedly agree. Ainge looks like a genius on this deal. Not only did he get Crowder on virtually a "throw in" on the deal, he turned around and signed him for what is going to be around 7% of the cap throughout the prime years of his career.
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Jae is awesome.
Exceeded pretty much everyone's expectations in the sense that many of us thought/hoped he was trajecting to become the next DeMare Carroll,  but expected it in 2 or 3 years from now.
His quick rise was entirely unexpected.

Another equally important question...
Having the vision to trade for and then lock this guy up at 5 years x $7 million.....
How good is Danny Ainge?
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

good points. and think back to the trade with dallas. how many people thought the celtics were robbed? crowder was simply a throw in. i thought he was a good defense, poor shooting sf. nice but nothing like he turned out to be.

credit to ainge on this one.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Well I think Rondo can make an impact on a winning (Yes I know what happened in Dallas). Don't forget Rondo is outperforming his one year contract as well.
