Caris Levert is an intriguing prospect.

 Really tall, long player. Jumps out at you his size and length. 6'7" with a 7'1" wingspan 10 assists today with 22 points vs Illinois.

 Really good ball handler which I always love and a great passer. Excellent Defensively as well. If he continues to add strength and could guard NBA SF's he could be extremely valuable.

He's someone I wouldn't mind at all getting with either our pick or Dallas pick based on where they are slotted now.  His size and skill set are very well suited for the modern NBA, and definitely what I would like to see Danny pursue if he does decide to draft another guard.

I think Levert almost definitely would have come out last year if not for the season ending injury, so he is a senior I view as having a bit more upside than others may have due to missing a full year of development.

Just use the search function on the forum for Levert and Saltlover and you'll find all my scouting reports on him going back to his sophomore year.  I've been high on him since fall of 2013.  It's unfortunate he got hurt last year, but he's really taken his game another notch up from prior years, and is really able to drive to the basket much more.  He's a jack of all trades player.  His upside is good Evan Turner with a better 3-point shot.  He does have some bad Evan Turner in him as well (forces the issue too much and goes on tilt with his jump shot, and then passes it we're not quite sure who).  But Michigan's top 2 point guards have been out much of the season, so I think he's getting accustomed to having the ball in his hands so much.

He's also a really good kid.  Michigan is a big school, and people are willing to call out players who are jerks, even if they're star players on championship teams (ahem, Brian Griese).  Levert seems to be liked by everyone.  There aren't stories of him saving people from burning buildings -- just that he's a genuine, sometimes quiet, kid at college.  He's got great work ethic, which is probably how he got his injury (from working out too much).

I'd be really happy if he became a Celtic.  I don't think he's got star potential, but he's the type of player that every team needs.  He can fill multiple roles on offense and defense, is a good teammate, and you don't have to worry about him at 2am.  A fine pick in the 10-20 range.  Some team will be happy.

Injury concerns aren't a huge deal for players drafted outside the lotto. The fact is that 90% of those guys never have a career anyway, so a 10-20% risk that Levert's foot becomes chronic just isn't that big a deal if you think he's got NBA talent.

I like Levert's combo of length+quick release on his jumpshot. He could become a really nice 3&D wing with his ability to get his shot off over almost anyone. I don't think his playmaking will translate to the NBA, though - guys like that always dominate as college upperclassmen.

His playmaking has a better chance than many to translate at least somewhat.  He was a PG all of high school, and Michigan had him playing some minutes at the point even as a sophomore -- and he has always been young for his year, to boot.  He won't be a go-to guy, but I think that part of his game still has growth, such that he can be a secondary ball-handler on offense, and not merely be a spot-up shooter.  Maybe not much in his rookie year, but over time.
