I'm with those on here who say "DON'T fix the 'problem'", because there is no problem in terms of equity or fairness.
It's like we're living in some Harrison Bergreron world here where we have to hide/mask/compensate for someone's inadequacies, for what purpose? To make everybody equal? Is that what we really want? I don't.
These guys with free-throw woes have some pretty serious skills in other areas which teams value highly, otherwise they wouldn't be in the NBA. Do we need to change things/rules for the rest of the league to offset the skills the poor free-throw shooters have over others, like maybe raising the basket 3 feet to compensate for the height of these guys? Or maybe instead of a 3 second rule, how about a 1 second rule? Pretty Silly.
This is a list of some of the top 15 of the Associations worst free throw shooters in history as of 4/15:
Rondo (15)
Okafor (14)
Dwight (12)
Bill Russell (9)
Shaq (7)
Wilt (5)
DeAndre J (2)
Ben Wallace (1)
None of them nor anyone else on that list nor the teams that they play/played for nor their fans get any sympathy from me. Take the bad with the good ( and there's a lot of good in these players), and as others on here have said.....learn to shoot free-throws...or not...
