How was your scouting in the past three drafts?

2013 - wasn't scouting
2014 - (5)Smart, (17)Clint Capela. I loved Smart (had him above everyone but Wiggins and Embiid), and I also thought that Capela was top-10 talent (which seems to be correct).
2015 - (15)RHJ, (28)Kevon Looney, (33)Josh Richardson. RHJ has been looking great in BKN, and I haven't followed either Looney or Richardson.

I still really really wish we had RHJ and Capela.

For the record, I haven't yet seen anyone mention Upshaw. Don't make me bump one of the many threads dedicated to him. I wasn't a huge fan, but thought he was worth a flier with the 45th pick.

I think it's pretty clear that there was non-public info that made him go undrafted. If all he did was smoke some weed, then he definitely wouldve gone in the 2nd round.

Given what we knew, I probably would've taken him with our early 2nd.

In 2013 I'm pretty sure I wanted Dieng or Giannis. But I didn't know we would be in range for Olynyk and I got a little psyched about the pick at the time. I'd say Olynyk looks better than Dieng now mostly because of his shooting. Pretty close though.

In 2014 I think at 6 once Gordon and Exum were off the board I would have taken Randle. I was excited for Smart nonetheless. At 18 I wanted Danny to go for Capella.  So far it's kinda too early to tell on either pick, though Capella looks like a significant miss.

This past draft I wanted Portis or a wing like Dekker or Anderson. I was fine with hunter and Mickey.

Honestly I don't see how Rozier is gonna get playing time any time soon, so I'm still doubting that pick. Hunter looks like a good value given where he was taken.

I think this was the key - many posters couldn't believe we kept passing on him, even at #45, but there must have been some pretty juicy stuff on him that the public just never really gained knowledge of.

I will say that people were higher on him earlier on than on the actual night of the draft.

Also, why is nobody adding their #45 choice for the past draft?

I REALLY wanted RHJ going into the draft, and during the draft, I really wanted Hunter when he started to fall. Mickey was also very intriguing to me with picks 28/33.

Be Honest. At the very last moment before the picks were announced, whom would you have picked for the Celtics in the past three Drafts? Mine were:

2013 - (13)Gorgui Dieng
2014 - (5)Noah Vonleh, (17)Garry Harris
2015 - (15)Bobby Portis, (28)RJ Hunter, (33)Jordan Mickey

Not bad but not that excellent either

2013: Dieng -- regardless of whether we took him at 13 or 16.
2014: since we had #6, not #5, I was fine with Smart at this spot.  Initially like Vonleh but moved into the Smart camp as draft night approached.  for #17, I wanted Hood.  didn't think Young was a bad option at that time.
2015: #16 -- wanted Portis all day long.  #28/33/45 -- didn't have any targets but was happy with Hunter at 28, satisfied with Mickey at 33 and mystified with Thornton at 45.

In the last draft, I wanted Myles Turner, and in the draft before that, I was crossing my fingers for Elfrid Payton.

I wanted Schroder like a fat kid wanted cake in 2013. Would have probably taken Portis with our first pick this year,  but I would have taken Mickey at 28 or 33.

In 2014 I would have taken Exum from 2 onwards.  More fool me.

I wanted Robert Upshaw at #16. That's probably the lowest.

Although, I did wanted Nurkic over Smart, that's yet to be seen. Bit I think I'm deep into a hole I can never return after wanting Upshaw.

2013- I wanted to go foreign because they had an unknown factor that could of allowed us to hit on one of them. Wanted in order either Giannis, Adams, or Schroeder. I was disgusted with the Olynyk pick because of the talent that could have been had.

2014- Wanted Randle at 6 because I thought he was just a better player than Smart. Never really thought Smart was that good and was deeply dissappointed when we grabbed him with the 5th overall pick. If Randle wasn't on the board I wanted Zach LaVine. At 16 I wanted either Hood or Gary Harris. I was sooo p---ed when we grabbed Young over Harris. Smh.

2015- Wanted Rodnae Hollis-Jefferson, Bobby Portis, or Sam Dekker. Clearly Dekker would have been a bad pick, but he also hasn't played that much. I knew that once we didn't trade up for anyone that Ainge had no idea where to go and wasn't suprised he picked another undersized combo guard that can't shoot.

All I gotta say as we reflect on the draft history of the Celtics in these past years is that we have drafted pretty badly and considering we've pretty much had 2 lottery picks, we traded up into the lottery for Olynyk, we have not even come close to a star player outside of trade.

2013 I didn't like anyone in our range. Was hoping for Caldwell pope to drop to us. I just really didn't want Olynyk, was hoping Danny would go with Gianni at the time.

2014 wasn't in love with anyone. I wanted to go with Vonleh for his potential. I was happy with Young, but was hoping Zach Lavine would fall to seventeen.

2015 I wanted trade up for Stanley Johnson was hoping Oubre would fall to us.

I always look for the physical attributes matched with defensive potential and one translateable nba skill.
