Be Honest. At the very last moment before the picks were announced, whom would you have picked for the Celtics in the past three Drafts? Mine were:

2013 - (13)Gorgui Dieng
2014 - (5)Noah Vonleh, (17)Garry Harris
2015 - (15)Bobby Portis, (28)RJ Hunter, (33)Jordan Mickey

Not bad but not that excellent either :)

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
2013 - Schroder (at #16, didn't know what to think when we traded up)
2014 - Smart, Hood
2015 - RHJ, Hunter, Dakari Johnson, Upshaw

No, I didn't nail it, but did okay. Like many, I missed on Giannis and Gobert which are two pretty big ones. I couldn't figure out for the life of me why Danny didn't take Upshaw with this year's 45th pick, but that has become quite clear.

2015: RJH or Dekker
2014: Randle and Young
2013: don't remember was too occupied with big 3 trade stuff
2012: Sully and Fab Melo (whoops)
2011: JJ
2010: AB

From 2010-2012 I thought I was lockstep with Danny.  Also had EM second round in 2011.

2013: I would have taken Dieng, but wasn't wowed by him or really anyone where we were drafting. I was concerned he would get drafted right before us "just to troll me."  I also liked Cody Zeller when he was still projected to go in the late teens, when he was ultimately drafted 4th and currently has a 15 PER.  So ok there.

2014: I liked Smart over Randle, but I really liked Exum and was praying he fell to us.  Then, I liked Gary Harris over James Young, but I thought James Young was okay.

2015: I liked Mudiay, Johnson, Winslow and Turner and never really considered we wouldn't get one of them.  I liked Bobby Portis and that probably would have been my pick there, but I basically wanted to either miss the playoffs or do something like Danny's attempted trade.  RJ Hunter surprised me that he was there and that's who I probably would have gone with, but he wasn't on my radar until he was slipping.  For my last pick, I would have taken Guillermo Hernangómez and stashed him for a year or two.  He's doing okay on Real Madrid and could eventually be a rotation player for someone.

Also bonus: I was on the Porzingis hype train from day one.

2012: Sullinger, if he fell to us (which he did. Yay!). I would've also liked us to draft Royce White (whoops!) or PJ3 (whoops again!). Well, it's not like the Fab Melo pick was any better ;D

2013: I wanted either GA or Shabazz. I was intrigued by Schroeder but we still had Rondo at the time so pass. On draft night, Noel was falling and I was semi-hoping that DA would trade up for him. For the record, I hated the KO pick.

2014: since Wiggins/Parker was out of the question, I wanted Embiid to fall somehow (there were talks at the time of this being possible). If not him, then Exum. When the 6th pick rolled around and those guys were gone, I was fine with the Smart pick.

2015: we made the playoffs and I wasn't too concerned with picks, actually. I didn't know who DA was getting and so the surprise Rozier pick didn't hit me as bad as other people on here.

I often get stuck between two guys yet I've been ok for Cs. But honestly top 5 in opinions I have been a mixed bag. So many guys go high and dont pan out. it's unreal.

2015- Portis/Dekker, Hunter, Mickey, DJ
2014-Smart, (Also wanted to trade Rondo for Randle), Young
2013-Gobert also wanted GreekF if Gobert was taken it ended up flipped. Wanted no part of Hesitation Kelly.
2012-Sully, Melo (Thought Melo could be like Perk, ouch)
2011-Butler (This one hurts),
2010-AB

TP, good idea for a post mid-season.  It's fun looking back at not just the guys I liked at the time but also the guys I hated, to see how both sides of the coin are doing.  For me:

2013
Liked (at 16): Plumlee
Hated:  Larkin

2014
Liked: Smart & Hood...if I recall I was with the majority on these guys
Hated:  Vonleh & McDaniels...there was late speculation pushing K.J. into the first round

2015
Liked:  Portis, Looney & Connaughton...mixed bag.  I think Portis would perform with minutes, but another post player is the last thing this roster needs right now.  If memory serves, Looney's required surgery wasn't public knowledge until after or right before the draft.
Hated:  Dekker, Anderson, RHJ

There were a lot of guys rooting for Vonleh and McDaniels in 2014; Noah because of his local ties and K.J. because of a lust for athletic guys with huge wingspans.  I've said on here before that to me, unskilled, athletic wings are a dime a dozen and are a complete waste of a draft pick (unless it's in the second half of the 2nd round).  The D-League is full of them.

If you missed out on K.J., just wait a year and select RHJ.  If you missed out on RHJ, just wait a year and there will be another similar player in the 2016 draft.  In today's NBA it's tough to win playing 4 on 5 at the offensive end of the floor.

For the record, I haven't yet seen anyone mention Upshaw. Don't make me bump one of the many threads dedicated to him. I wasn't a huge fan, but thought he was worth a flier with the 45th pick.

I agreed with all our picks at the time, the last three years except for Rozier. I wanted Hollis Jefferson or Portis.

In 2014 I wanted Aaron Gordon but he got picked before us
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

In 2013, I apparently was really high on Giannis.  I remember I liked him, but searching the archives I was trumpeting him every other week.  Good on me!

In 2014, I know Smart was my top choice at 6.  I also called Embiid a huge risk and didn't think he should be a top 3 pick. I thought Wiggins was unquestionably the number 1 talent.  I also liked Vonleh a lot, although less near the draft, Stauskas (oops, but was hopeful he'd fall to 17, and would still take a flyer), Saric, and Nurkic.  I also was crushed when Porzingis withdrew.  I had some interest in Capela, but it wasn't overwhelming.  I still don't know who Bruno Caboclo is.

2015 all I wanted was a way to trade up for Justise Winslow.  Apparently Ainge agreed.  Curse you MJ.  At 16 I liked Oubre, RHJ, and Hunter.  Rozier wasn't on my radar, but I think I'll learn to like him.

If we go back to 2012, we can find me posting that Ainge should take Draymond Green with one of our two firsts, even if it's a slight overdraft, because he has that special make-up.  But if we go back a year further, we can find me starting threads about JuJuan Johnson... So I'm not perfect.

Since someone mentioned it, I was one of the posters leading the charge against Robert Upshaw.

2013: I would have made the same attempt to trade up and take Olynyk.  If I didn't trade up, I would probably try to trade down.  I wanted to stay away from Shabazz Muhammad.  If forced to pick at #16, I would probably have shrugged and flipped a coin between Karasev and Schroeder.

2014: I would have taken Smart at #6.  I would have been willing to move down and take Saric.  Not a huge fan of anyone else taken in the top 20 after Smart.  I hated at Young at #17 and would have taken Clint Capela or Bogdan Bogdanovic, moving down if possible.

2015; Kevon Looney and Nikola Milutinov.  I did not want Oubre or Dekker.  I'm not sure what domino effect that creates on who is available at #33, but I would have considered RJ Hunter, Chris McCulloch, Cedi Osman, and Jordan Mickey there.  I would have used #45 on a Euro-stash guy and definitely not on Upshaw.
