I thought this would be an interesting topic, and I am sure there are players I am definitely forgetting right now as I quickly thought of players I am surprised how bad they have played.
While I realize these players are at all different points of their careers, they have all been ones I have been mildly surprised to completely disappointed in for the reasons below.

Ty Lawson - It has been a rather dramatic fall from grace for Ty Lawson. A year ago he was still viewed as an all-star caliber point guard. Right now he is playing behind Beverly for about 10-15 minutes a night and barely shoots the ball.

Nick Stauskas - I was really interested to see what he could do with some serious run and freedom in Philly. He has actually stood out for his horrible play, which is hard to do in Philly. He is shooting an unfathomable 35% from the field and 28% from 3 point land. This lottery pick could be out of the league after 2 seasons

Paul Pierce - It pains me to put him on here, but he looked like he had a ton left in the playoffs last year with clutch shot after clutch shot in the playoffs. He is mostly fallen out of the rotation over night over there seemingly going from reliable starter to end of bench player overnight.

Anthony Bennett - Maybe I am an idiot for including him, but I thought this guy had to have something to be picked number 1 and had just been in a bad situation thrown off by minor injuries. I don't know if people realize this, but even all time great bust Olawakandi put together 3 straight seasons of starting caliber NBA play. Kwame Brown lasted 10 years in the league and was a servicable backup big. Bennett appears like he will never even do that.

Roy Hibbert - Again I thought he was just in a bad situation in Indiana and was still a starting caliber NBA center, even if he wasn't quite the all-star level player he seemed to be for a few years. Somehow his numbers are even worse than they were than his collapse in Indiana.

Anthony Davis - This guy probably belongs in a separate category than all the others, but he has really had a disappointing start to the season. His overall numbers are ok, but for a guy that appeared to be climbing like a meteor last season spawning "is he the best player in the game mentions" he has nearly doubled his turnovers, seen his shooting declining from 53 to 48% and is scoring a little bit less. I think the move to put him on the perimeter is a disaster and he has shockingly regressed from MVP discussion to All-star level play. I also never expected for a team was on to play a 3rd of the season at a .280 clip even it was him and 11 larry hughes.

For me personally it's Marcus Smart, but it's not entirely his fault.

As for non-Celtics, Goran Dragic comes to mind.  John Wall as well.

so many to name.  PP - sure.  Kobe - definitely.  Smart - where's the offense and health?  Ty Lawson - off a cliff.  Dwight - not stepping up.  Noel - regressing.  Dragic - hasn't integrated himself as much as expected.  Bass - a real non-factor in LA.

a number of others could be named.  Stauskas/Bennett --> had to have at least 1 good season to have expectations.  Hibbert--been regressing since the Lance Stephenson debacle in Indy. no surprise.

Goran Dragic is a good one, I had forgotten about him. He was very impressive with Phoenix, but now seems to be a really bad fit next to Wade because they both need the ball in their hands. I kind of was trying to avoid adding players just because of injuries (he has only played in 9 games).

Why Wall? I get that Washington has underachieved but his scoring and steals are up, with a significant increase in 3 point shooting percentage and a slight decrease in assists. I would blame the wizards failures more on Porter regressing, their front court continuing to age and having Dudley be a step down from what pierce gave them last year.

Oh, Wall must have really picked up his stats in the last few weeks, I checked in on him not too long ago and he was averaging like 17 points and 9 assists on fairly crappy percentages.

Funny thing about Dudley is that he's actually been a lot better this year than Pierce, even after a slow start returning from his back injury.

I think the biggest problem for the Wizards is that their depth stinks, especially defensively, Beal has been hurt, and their frontcourt has started to decline pretty significantly.

Ty Lawson -- supposed to turn Houston Rockets to title worthy team.

Harden and Dwight have been disappointing too. Harden was 2nd in MVP last year. Now not playing defense again. Not sharing the ball with others. Only passing when he can get an assist. Showing no leadership. Dwight's scoring is barely more than your average athletic garbage man. Rockets team defense under-performing. Not able to bring teammates together on defense.

Markieff Morris - top 10 PF last season. Shooting only 38% FG% this season. Lost his starting spot to the thoroughly mediocre Jon Leuer.

As a Celtics fan he is not disappointing me at all, he is um...proappointing me?...but Joe Johnson.

Last year, he was going 14.4 PPG/4.8 RPG/.435% FG%/.359 3pt%/1.7 TO/.494 eFG%

Now, his numbers are: 10.8 PPG/4.1 RPG/.355 FG%/.317 3pt%/2.0 TO/.410 eFG%

With all the close games they've had this year, you have to imagine that 2014-2015 Joe Johnson could have swung them a few more wins.  He has looked pretty awful most of the time, but he granted has had a couple big games this season.  I just don't think he can be effective without at least a day's rest and even then, he struggles.

You have to take the situation into acount.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Leuer is actually a decent player, can do a lot of things on the court.

This one is mine also, but I guess it's a good thing with our situation  ;D but seriously even Kobe looks like he can do more at his age than Joe Johnson.

Noel was my pick. Has gone backwards even defensively and I don't think he's worth a high first any more. Basically a defensive specialist who does nothing else well.

Hibbert and Larson had big issues last year.

Stauskas and Bennett were two of LarBrd33's pitches for our 16th pick. You had to know they sucked.

Pierce? Maybe it's the Clippers? Playoff choke hangover. Don't quite get their problem, but haven't seen them much so far.

Davis doesn't belong here. He was trying to carry a team that was screwed by injuries early. I pitch the top pick for him in a second.

Joe Johnson doesn't count either. He's been sliding for a while and just fell off a cliff like Kobe. It was coming sooner or later, It just came sooner.

Interesting topic. I'm sure some other names will pop up. What about Harden or Chris Paul?

James Harden. The man has turned into a full-out diva. His numbers may be relatively the same from last year but the guy's body language is completely different. He looks like he just doesn't care anymore about trying to win and is playing for his own stats. The fact that he claimed he was the MVP last year and has followed up this year with this awful attitude to me makes him the most disappointing. Howard looks like he can't stand playing with him anymore.

I'm sorry I'm just mad because I had hopes that the Rockets were the team that everyone was sleeping on and they've been the league's most disappointing team. Ty Lawson has also been very disappointing but it's not like the Rocket lost anyone good in that trade for Lawson and Lawson shouldn't be entirely to blame for their struggles because they still on paper have a good team around him.

Ouch....

and I seem to remember a poster here who thinks he is another good asset for philly...

Pierce was suppose to get Clippers to the next level but they are a mess. Big disappointment.
