I think we should trade for like a player like Harden, Durant, or Curry. Hopefully DA can work his 2007 magic and pull off a big one.

If you want to talk about character issues, I think Harden's issues are much more problematic than Cousins' issues.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

They had to deal with attitude issues with Sullinger and they kept him around. If Danny and Brad really care about character issues more than talent, they could have shipped him out of town for nothing.

Sully is like a mild mannered child compared to Cousins. Not even close

I see your point, anyone who dates a Kardasions must have a number of issues.

My gut feeling says Gallo or Batum.  Less likely Batum bc the hornets are in the playoff chase also

Denver is out of playoff contention

Trade Idea:

To Nuggets: Sullinger, Turner, Young
To Celtics:  Gallo, Miller, Papanikolao (waive), 2nd round pick

lineup after trade

C- Amir
PF- KO
SF- Gallo
SG- Smart
PG- AB

Bench

C- - Lee/Zeller
PF- Mickey/Jerebko
SF- Crowder/Miller
SG- Hunter/Rozier
PG- IT

HAving either Gallo or IT or both help close out games would be a big help.

Clutch shot by Gallo. He is definitely a clutch ball scorer

Denver is 8th in the playoff race. That's not exactly out of playoff contention. Unless things start going horribly wrong for them as the year goes on, I don't see them trading Gallo. They may follow the same blueprint that the Celtics did last year which is if the opportunity presents itself, make a run for the playoffs to give the young guys some experience. Even if it means getting swept by a superior opponent, having the young guys play some playoff basketball can be very beneficial for their long-term careers. Especially in Denver's case where they have a ton of picks coming their way. Also Denver would probably want 1st round picks if they did that and that deal is going to require some expirings because money-wise that deal won't work. They're not going to just hand over Gallinari.

Batum is someone that the celtics should definitely look at this off-season but yeah Charlotte's definitely not trading him the way they are playing.

Ainge was asked about DeMarcus Cousins and while he refused to talk about him by name, he downplayed any interest in a guy that could be disruptive.

I don't think it's ever a good idea to have players that are disruptive to your team, on the court and off the court.

At top of Danny Ainge's holiday shopping list? A go-to scorer.

Quote
"I think the one thing that we could really use is a go-to scorer," said Ainge. "We have some guys that have carried us -- Kelly [Olynyk has] carried us, Avery [Bradley has] carried us, Isaiah [Thomas has] carried us, [Jared Sullinger has] carried us at moments during the season, Evan Turner has carried us -- but it would be nice to find another player that’s a reliable scorer at the end of games, night in and night out."

I think you're kidding yourself if you think Danny won't be on the phone with Divac if Cousins is made available. Talent is talent, and it is one thing we need more of.

Are you serious right now? read above again

Why would DA fib about his interest in DC???? Oh why???  Duh, to lower the price tag.  Probably the #1 rule of negotiations.  If Cousins is available at a price DA likes, these comments will mean absolutely nothing.

I don't think this puts an end to anything. It's not like Danny's going to come out and say, "Oh yeah, I'd love to have that center that's putting up 25-12 a night who's playing for that crappy franchise". He'd be fined for tampering and would give himself away to everyone. In the world of sports, it's a game of chess, not checkers. Just ask Billy King.

In fact I think that interview weighed the pros and cons of having DMC on this team. He can be disruptive but he can be that go-to guy this roster desperately needs. No matter what issue Cousins has, he would help this team.

I'm not seeing how wanting a consistent (go-to) scorer precludes us from getting Cousins.

If Ainge said the same thing in '07 and got Ray Allen, by the same logic one would say he wouldn't pursue KG.....non sequitor

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Looking at Ainge's penchant for value contracts and not spending large capspace on 'great but not All Star great' caliber guys (like Gallo and Batum) it's hard to see him adding Gallo and especially Batum.

Adding Gallo adds some scoring but also means Crowder plays significantly less minutes and his defensive impact is lost.

Gallo doesn't play the 4 either.

To me he's much more likely to go after Harrison Barnes and get him an extra 7 or 8 shots a game than he gets at GSW.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

do you know what a locker room cancer is?  There is no price tag too low to obtain it

How are Ray Allen and KG, both future HOFs and true professionals comparable any way to a child in a man's body that is Cousins?
