I would not want to add Howard to this team. However with that being said BS would salvage his Career and he would look like a star again for the next few years.

I feel I would be down if we could buy low with a package of Lee, Zeller, Rozier, BOS 2016 1st, BKN 2018 1st (top 3 protected), CLE 2016 2nd, BOS 2018 2nd.

We'd get a 3 for 1 deal to clear up the roster crunch, a star player, and finally consolidate some draft picks.

The Net's 1st rounders have to be off the table since he can walk.

Lee, Zeller, Young and the Boston pick this year might be Ok.

Forget trading the Nets pick for him, I hope he goes to the Nets in FA for 5 years, $120 million.

I think Dwight's gotten an unfair shake. Don't get me wrong, his production has been pretty average, but it's still above average  for an NBA big.

Let's look at his past 2 teams, LAL and HOU. Were either of these two teams even making an effort to play defense? It seemed like both teams basically relied on Dwight to clean up the defensive mistakes of their perimeter players. Add that to the fact that he's had those major injuries, but was still heavily relied on defensively. You have a recipe for disaster. But yet somehow,  he's still averaging double-doubles and a couple of blocks for those teams.

If CBS can reduce his defensive workload and manage his minutes, he is still a better offensive and defensive option than every true big on this Celtics team.

Short of Smart, Bradley, Crowder, and the Brooklyn pick; why would anyone not want him on this team from a trade??

Cause he WON the dunk contest---when the ball slipped out of his hands-!  ha.

He's still a really good player, but I can't stand him.   He's got a terrible attitude.  He doesn't care about winning.

Can anyone explain how he would fit in Stevens' system? Or is he just a big name that people are throwing out there and a bad fit?

Beyond the fact that CBS will definitely be willing to adjust for him, here's how i see it breaking down lineup-wise.

Offense: Surround Dwight with at least one (maybe 2) pick and roll ballhandler, add a stretch forward, and a shooter. Dwight rolls to the basket to finish or draw the defense in, leaving space for 2 options (shooter/stretch4) for an open bucket. The ballhandlers either drop it off to a rolling Dwight, find the open shooter, or score themselves.

This may seem simply explained, but no one on the team current is the rolling threat to finish as Dwight would be. That's why defenses would are more willing to hedge the ballhandler, rather than ICE-ing to take away the rolling man.

Defense: This is where Dwight's value is undeniable. Any lineup with any combination of Smart, Avery, Jae, Amir, or Dwight will be enough to make up for the weaker defensive players on the team like IT4. As long as at least 3 of those guys are on the court at all times, the defense has at least 2 perimeter bulldogs and 1 legit rim protector. Subjectively, i assume that having at least 3 shutdown defenders for all 48 minutes is gonna be an issue with any team.

Thank you, that is a really great break down. Any idea what his passing or BBIQ is like? I read that he is turn over prone.

I think Howard alone wouldn't push the needle. But how much would everyone hate this?

Lee, Zeller, Rozier and picks for Howard

Sullinger, Jerebko, Johnson and picks for Anthony

Celtics Line up would be:
Smart/Bradley/Anthony/Crowder/Howard
Thomas/Young/Turner/Mickey/Olynyk
Phil Pressey?/Hunter/Malcolm Miller?/Jonathan Holmes?

I'd take him for the right price.

max, I like you, but fear you're drinking to get drunk here. What's the price?

Mavs Pick, Zeller, Amir. I'd probably be fine with a little more, but I wouldn't give up any blue chip assets for him.

Then I am with you. Cheers.

It would be tough to match a potential offer from Miami (seems purely speculation at this point), that does seem to make a lot of sense for both parties, without giving up too much.

Actually, it seems like Miami is getting the short end of the deal in a Dwight for Whiteside trade. Whiteside seems like he's just as good as current day Dwight and is still improving. Not to say that we'd be the ideal trade partners either because I don't know if we have the assets Houston wants (they seem like a pretty complete team, IMO, so I don't know what they'll be looking for).

What if they ask for Bradley though? Or sully? Would you still want to go through with the trade?

If they needed Sully on top of that other stuff, I'd still do it. AB is where I draw the line though; he's too valuable to move unless it's for a go to scorer.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.
