The would lean towards the Celtics since it is a trade that would hurt us this season. Noel can be a scary prospect too based on the kind of lineups the better teams are playing these days.

I believe the Celtics had the opportunity to trade Noel for Smart in the offseason and didn't.

I know a lot of people on here would rather have Noel than Smart, but I am not one of them. Has Noel really been that good this year? It seems to me the Sixers view him as a back up to Okafor long term. They are not a match together at the 4/5 and the Sixers have consistently went with Okafor over him to end games.

I personally wouldn't trade Smart for a back up 5 from the Sixers. While I do like Covington, I think Sullinger has to have more value than him right now.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Fair trade for both sides.

Sullinger is pretty big for us this year, we really might miss the playoffs if we trade him.  Noel has the bigger value down the road, though.  Covington is alright at shooting the 3, but he's not like a starter on a championship team or anything.  I don't know, I don't really like it that much.  If we do any trades, I'd prefer to ship out a bunch of bench guys, non-BK picks and prospects all at once unless it's for a star.  Noel is not a star.

We are going to have a log jam at a bunch of positions starting this offseason when we start drafting 5 or 6 guys a year.  At the same time, I like competing while Brooklyn misses the playoffs for us.  Noel is fine, but we'd need a good stretch big to play next to him and I'm not sure if that is Kelly.  I'd rather just be flexible this year unless again, it's for a star.  We'll have a ton of options this offseason and if we draft Skal or Ben Simmons, then all of a sudden we have Noel and them battling for minutes at the 4.

Fair trade for both sides.

I agree that Nerlens and Covington for Marcus and Sully is probably a reasonably fair trade on paper.

Personally, I'd rather keep Marcus and see what he can develop into.

SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas

It was the Cs that wanted Noel, not the other way around.

Regardless, pretty different trade than what I've thrown out there. The Cs were trying to get the 3rd pick of the draft out of it too:

The 76ers say no.  You would need to include Mickey and a Brooklyn first.

I think it's pretty fair, but I think Danny would say no. He seems to have very little interest in moving Smart.

What are you basing that on?

The absurd amount that he asked for Smart from Philly and that all beat reporters indicate that Smart is the least likely player on the roster to be moved.

Makes the Celts significantly worse this year.  Possibly in the future, too.

all beat reporters don't say that, in my experience. if they did, that'd likely be an indication OF their interest in trading him, anyway (not unlikely Wyc repeatedly calling Sully "our best player this year")...

and the absurd amount Ainge asked for included... Noel?

anyway, getting a little into the weeds here. i get your POV.

My opinion of Noel has decreased. His value has actually been diminished playing at PF. Very good defensive center and that's it. Not a very good rebounder and his offense is non-existent. His offense has regressed at PF and it was bad to begin with. Next to last in the NBA in offensive win shares and has other brutal offensive numbers too.

The type of player that Hinkiephiles would label as a potential superstar. I think they mean for tanking purposes though, which differs from the common usage of the term.

Agreed. He should be playing in the middle. Doing this:

There's too much blaming Noel for being a Sixer. He didn't draft himself. And he didn't draft Okafor.
