They're screwed. Too bad this draft sucks. Celtics always get screwed.
We will probably be able to add a shooter or potential rim protector with the Dallas pick if they don't make the playoffs. The player we would add around 12 is going to be a better prospect than most of the guys we have drafted in the last 5 years.

Be happy!

TP for a good observation.

From 11-16, DraftExpress has Demetrius Jackson, Timothe Luwawu, Deyonta Davis, Ivan Rabb, Wade Baldwin and Denzel Valentine.

From 11-16, Tankathon has Luwawu, Diamond Stone, Valentine, Davis, Furkan Korkmaz, Baldwin.

Heavy on the guards in that grouping, so not entirely positive, but Luwawu could potentially play the 3. I don't know what to make of that guy. If CBS can settle him down, he could be really good.

Former #1/2 Skal is at #10 on DE and #20 on Tankathon. How's that for indecisive? But if he were still there with the Dallas pick, I'd take him. We need potential superstars. We have a lot of draft picks. Might as well take a shot, rather than draft a guy who could turn out to be good but has more limited upside.

Maybe they will trade out of it for a superstar ;)

Yeah I would hope we would pick one of Davis, Rabb, Scal or Criss if we wanted a long/athletic big. If the C's decided they needed shooting, Bladwin, Valentine, Korkmaz and Luwawu could all help in that area.

But you are right, we would have been much better off getting two lottery picks last year or next year rather than this year.

If everything works out well, tomorrow Dallas can be in a 3 way tie for 12th pick.
edit: actually Houston about to loose right now so nvm

shoudn't be too much of a problem in the long run, Houston probably gonna win a few more games than Dallas down the stretch.

I hope so! If they had won last night, that would have been huge. Houston's last 4 games are against awful teams, but their schedule is pretty tough until then... in my humble estimations, they need to finish a couple games over 500 along with the Jazz and Wizards for us to get pick 12.

538 still projects the Mavs finishing a game behind the Jazz and Rockets.  Gives them a 43% chance of making the playoffs.  They finish in the 12 spot.

Nearly started a thread for tonight's game v Portland. Critical game in the fight between the 16th pick and the 12th. Considering Danny supposedly offered three first rounders to move up to the 9th pick, we could get some serious value for this pick at 12 (shooting? Dellevadova or Beverly?)

dallas down by 10 with 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter. this might be a very good evening for the celtics draft hopes since phoenix is up by 11.  ;D

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
