so, most disappointing team this season:  Houston or Milwaukee?

Look at it this way. At least we won't have to suffer the injustice of having Dallas sneak into the lottery and then land the #1 pick, making us lose their pick this year AND pushing the Bets pick back a slot

Definitely need to put Washington pretty high on that list.  I'd still say Houston is more disappointing, but Washington was a trendy pick as a team who could challenge Cleveland at the beginning of the year.

Looking at the schedule, Houston can easily win out and Dallas could lose 2 or 3. Houston blew their chance last night, big time, though. Harden, of all people, may have cost them the game.

Not excusing them, but at least they were injured a lot. I know you already said Houston is the most disappointing, but I can't believe they've been relatively healthy and been this bad.

Utah lost to the Clippers tonight on a Jamal Crawford game-winning 3 with 0.2 seconds left in overtime.

The Clippers didn't have Paul, Jordan, Griffin, or Redick, and Utah still managed to lose.  Utah is now two games behind Dallas.  The pick looks likely to end up at #16, but it could drop further if Dallas keeps winning and Memphis or Indiana keep losing.

You know what's good about the pick being at 16 is that if it was at 12, it could be a chance that we lose the pic where at 16 it's definitely ours this year.

Plus if mavs win the lottery they could get Ingram or Simmons
Who should be able to help them out in some way
As well as potential for mavs to get some free agent help
So they may be better than this year

Plus this year they've had injuries to key players
But they still won't lose
Which makes me think that the mavs decline would be more gradual than a straight off drop for future seasons
Meaning the pick is probably the lowest possible for mavs and for us to get it

Bummer it didn't stay in the top 12, but I guess it depends if there is a tier drop-off in that range.  Last year there was such a perceived massive drop off after pick 10 that Boston tried and failed to give up 4 first rounders just to move up from #16.

Looking at DX, there looks to be a drop off after Ellenson at #9 with Skal going next (whatever your thoughts are of him).  There doesn't appear to be much of a difference from 11 to the late teens or so.

It's highly improbable... but still possible Dallas loses out and that the Jazz & Rockets win out, which would leave the Dallas pick at 13 or maybe even 12...

And if the Suns finish 4th worst and the Nets 3rd worst, then it will blunt the pain even if it is pick 16 or even worse.

I am hoping for a worst case scenario that it is 15th... but maybe that's optimistic.

15 is better than 16, but not so much so that i will lose any sleep over this. as was mentioned above, the talent from around #10 to #18ish is pretty comparable.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
