Someone posted the parts of this article about Embiid disobeying doctors orders and the teams dietary advice, but this article has much more negative things to say about the 76ers current process. I thought it deserved a separate thread beyond just embiid. I recommend the read, but some of the other lowlights:

*The reason embiid was sent home from the west coast trip was for physically threatening the strength and conditioning coach
*There was internal strife about whether to trade MCW
* Coach Browns standing may not be as secure as it seems
* Saric's father handles a lot of his son's business and wants him nowhere near the 76ers.
*"When Hinkie traveled to Turkey to meet with Saric in the summer of 2014, he was given very little face time with him, at the father’s direction."

Well, I suppose this is just even more reason to be happy Danny elected to go the route he did and not go into full nuclear mode. It's hard for everything to play outright in the Sixers's scenario and even harder to overcome the culture of failure that is being established.

Well if the strength and conditioning coach felt physically threatened, he must have done his job.

By the way, what does this say about the 2 teams that were worse than the 76ers? That team has basically no talent, all the players are trying to get the hell out of there, and not only does there not seem to be much agreement between players, coaches, FO, they can't even keep it in house. How are the Knicks worse than THAT?

You never know how much these stories are the result of people with axes to grind.

I will say that Brown has to be done.  Even if he lasts this season, he's got a good shot at losing 60 games for three years in a row.  I don't care how great a coach you are, you can't have any credibility or authority in that situation.

I for one am shocked that creating a culture of losing could produce such negative results.

It doesn't matter whether he's a good coach or not.  It's about being able to stand in front of a group of millionaires and get them to buy what you're selling when you've got nothing on your record but massive failure.

They will get better... wroten stauscas grant noel and okafor... are not bad.. if if enbiid  can play again next year they have some options... they have 2-3 lottery picks.. if they trade one for a good player and one of their bigs for another they would have a much better team. Add saric
They could have brown and  murrey and briscoe from the next draft
Imagine murray brown saric noel okafor embiid briscoe... with 1 2 good trades and signing 3 good role players ...
I think they tried to return slow... they could fail... but they will have talent

IMO the point is, if you believe that Embiid is in fact acting like what the article describes, by not wearing his protective boot, partying, eating junk food, and not doing what the medical staff is suggesting, then beware the 76'ers will at some point look for a team to fleece in a trade for him. They'll get him as healthy as possible, and look to move him.

Let's not be that trade partner. (Other than that, let him sabotage his own recovery.)

I'd say the fact that the Sixers haven't finished with the worst record in the league in any of Brett Brown's three seasons, despite the rosters they've put out there, is a major credit to him.

He had that rag-tag bunch playing pretty good defense last year.  They just haven't had anybody in his time there that can actually run an offense or finish inside.

Things can change in a hurry for them.  With their own pick, and possibly the Lakers pick(if it falls outside the top 3) they can draft 2 more lottery picks, and lets say they trade one of Okafer or Noel they can get something really good in return.  They may even be able to trade Saric and Embiid for something good in return.  They also have Stauskas who as a young player may turn into something.  Then once they feel they have a solid young nucleus in place they can fill in the gaps with solid role players with all the cap space they have.

Too soon to write off their rebuild just yet.

In other words, three years minimum till they sniff the playoffs.
