Would it be a terrible idea to pitch a trade for joe Johnson? Give them a future pick and maybe we could use a t/e to absorb the contract not sure if we have them left or not. I'm not really sure how the technicals work but he's going to win the a few games this year with his scoring and he would be a good veteran presence. What do you guys think?
Please tell me you're joking?
Don't think he is.
If so, scotto1205, then I apologise for the mocking tone.
But...why?
Joe Johnson has been beyond terrible this year. He's probably a large part of why they have been so darn terrible. His level of production is horribly, horribly out of proportion with his utterly ridiculous contract.
No idea why we would want to take that on. I know we need an upgrade at SF, but IMHO Jae Crowder and Evan Turner are both better players than JJ is right now...and those two guys make less money combined than JJ on his own. Even if you did manage to somehow find a way to argue that Joe Johnson is an upgrade, it would be by such a tiny, tiny margin so as to be utterly insignificant.
I'm not even sure that getting rid of him hurts Brooklyn. Just creates more opportunity for one of their bench guys to come up and break out.
Plus giving them a 1st too? That just gives them a chance of transferring to a not-uttterly-sucky state sooner.
