I realized he had been gaining the weight back a while back when he posted a photo for a wedding, he was dancing with his niece (I think). He had also been allowed to take a break with his family at another point. He looks so much bigger than he did a couple months ago, [dang] shame!
Well, the organization can't be his babysitter for the entirety of his career. I think it's become abundantly clear so far that keeping himself in shape is an issue. I won't be terribly disappointed when we move on.

It's because he was almost assuredly doing a low-calorie starvation diet. You can only do that for so long until you damage your hormones, including insulin.  Oh, and also - day after day in giant caloric deficits never work.

I may as well throw in a note here because I know listeners are sick and tired of me bringing it up on the show, so therefore I won't discuss on this week - but I don't see any real body transformation for the better with Sullinger.  Just see a bunch of cliche quotes to the media.  Nothing to see here.  Saw Ainge say he expects Sullinger to have a big year...just like what he said about Rondo last year

There's a lot to be excited about this year with the Celtics and other players.  Jared Sullinger is not one of them.

That's a riot.

Makes me the more sure Johnson and KO is our starting lineup--unless Lee bumps KO out.

That's it for Sully. Sad to see that. We should have seen a significant improvement. I didn't expect to see him ripped but totally though he would be A LOT slimmer.  Hate to say it but if he couldn't do it this year, he NEVER will.  Oliver Miller 2.0 in a few years watch.....sad

I'm afraid I think you're right. After kind of stagnating in his game a little last season and playing for a contract this season, he'll never have more motivation than right now.

Speaking of Sully's motivation:

Bummer.

The truth is, if somebody really wants to lose weight, they can. We saw all the pictures and quotes from the summer, but those were just quick snippets. How intense were his workouts? Was he really dieting? I do quite a bit of long distance running and I know some decent runners that don't look very athletic at all due to feeling they can eat whatever they want for 'energy.'

My guess is that he did pick up his workouts, but didn't stick to his diet, and when he went off his routine, any progress he made went out the window.

It's possible his efforts will transform to the court, but he is nowhere close to the Kevin Love transformation. If somebody really wants 'it', they will make it happen. We found out more about Sully this offseason than in his entire career so far.

Players don't just suddenly become hard workers after they've already made it into the league.

They handled themselves a certain way to get into the league, that's how they'll be going forward.

I think it's clear Sullinger doesn't have the kind of personality or mentality to truly transform his body and turn into a different kind of player, as much as we'd all like to see that happen.

I would have expected a little more visual difference.

Everybody looked decent .....except

You know who

When asked how much weight did he shed ..he wouldn't say...he seemed embarrassed....because he has done blown it already ...he may have been down 50 pounds at some point.....but I m not sure that net loss is still in effect at all.

He still looks ....well......sorry

Like Sully  ;D

That said ...... I still look for him to led in rebounding and scoring at the four position. ....long as he is healthy AND they let him play his natural position around the paint.

99.9% of people can't even lose weight when it means getting better looking girls.

Why would someone lose weight when it's the difference between making $100mil and $110mil throughout their career?

As an NBA player he's probably already getting the hottest women he could possibly get.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale
