he could have gone number one,so the celts get a 6 11 with length a big that can defend multiple position and athletic-with three years experience at least in nba game and lifestyle-would you take holmes over perry, put him with a team of workers a chance to compete and learn-and coach like brad-perry you need more positive press---

No question he has talent and is physically gifted although he has glass knees and has questionable work ethic. Both are hard to fix and mitigate that's why thunder gave up a second rounder just to dump his salary. Maybe Stevens an Bryan Doo can work their magic on him(very unlikely) but until then he's just a hindrance on the development of our young prospects.

To me he has a clean slate.  He's young and its no risk.  Basically Ainge has set us up in a win win.

imagine sitting behind durant ,knowing no matter what you produced it was the bench and drawing comparisons, then the injury after some really good games against good teams and a coach just waiting to bench him or bring on someone else on-everybody wanted a greek freak well we got one now-remember brandon wright, he is not a patch on perry-
this guy tore up SL-
another thought he would be perfect to trade out west and i assume the thunder didn't want him out west to possibly help their rivals, so the celts were perfect
-a young coach,a coach that grooms his players and put them in position to do well-if this player get impress brad with his potential, move him out to dallas--but his potential deserves a good long hard look-it's better than a" clean slate" 3 yrs in nba

No way he could have gone #1.  That's like saying Chris Walker could have gone number one... if only he knew how to play basketball.

thats as is with 3 years experience bur no history-essentially i was trying to give some value to his time in nba even if the results didn't seem there, big men take longer-i don't know which was worse philly or okc- lose now or win now for a young player

Yeah, after three years of showing close to nothing, there is zero chance that he would go No. 1 in the draft, and  he almost certainly wouldn't go in the lottery.

Possibly late in the first round, where he actually went back in 2012 -- in place of a Larry Nance or a Chris McCullough.

you miss the point, maybe this helps, put him in summer league as he is today ,he tore it up as a rookie, put any  rookie now against clippers and see if they can score 32 points-so the fans should look at his portential in right system-a risk free opportunity and a valuable trading filler-he is still young

He's 23. He would have had to redshirt then play the last 4 years in college ball, as opposed to playing 2 years in college and three in OKC.

I still don't think he would have been as good as Frank K.  It's just as likely he would have been a 2nd rounder as teams wouldn't have seen any upside

If we just drafted him many on here would be crazy-happy.  That's why some of the hate about the "free" trade is hard to understand.  Give him some time with Stevens and lets sit back and watch and see what happens.  Maybe it'll pan out or maybe it won't.  This is a low risk high reward proposition in my book.

No way would he went in the lottery let alone number one.

That being said, he showed some flashes this year.  I hope CBS can catch lightning in the bottle with him.

He wasn't just red flagged, it was reported that some front offices/medical staff believes his knees had 3-4 good seasons. If true, he has basically reached his "peak." Take off those braces and let Forest RUN!

We might have been happy 3 years ago. Not as happy today.

Huh?

He was selected 28th in 2012. There's no reason for me to believe he should have been selected 1st overall then, OVER ANTHONY DAVIS!?! He scored 2.3 PPG as a rookie...so did he really tear it up?

So many things go into how a player actually plays. There's no reason to believe PJ3 is capable of putting up 32 PPG just because he had one game where he did so. I remember when we were watching Marcus Thorton highlight videos thinking he would bring the same thing to the Celtics.

Did he? No.

There's a reason PJ3 scored 32 points in that game. I'm sure he's rarely scouted for. Same reason why Jeremy Lin exploded in a matter of weeks a couple years ago. Has his production EVER been anywhere NEAR similar to that of those two weeks in NY? Nope.

This is how you set yourself up for disappointment. Approach PJ3 this summer with mild caution. If he outperforms this caution on the court this year, that's a win for you. If you blow him up to be something he's not, then the only person you can be upset at in a couple months is yourself.
Long-form is far from dead, but please refrain from paragraph-laden posts! Who wants to read that?!

We were GIVEN a second rounder in order to take him off the books at OKC... That's right, he has NEGATIVE value even on a rookie deal...

So, if he was in this year's draft, undrafted or late second rounder only...
