Jones would be a late lottery pick or in the teens if he came out in this year's draft.

LOL nonsense to say he would have been the #1 pick in this year's draft.  Over Towns, Russell, Okafor, etc. ?  Get real please!

However in the late 20's? I could see it.
DA essentially got a free asset by helping the Thunder save on luxury taxes.
I like the move.
There's really no downside to it.
Who couldn't use an essentially free, young, super athletic small forward?

Sure PJIII hasn't set the world on fire, but hard to see any substantial minutes sitting behind Kevin Durant.  Over here all he has to do is beat out Turner and Crowder for minutes.

That is at least possible, compared to beating out Durant for the minutes!

altenative universe says only perry-lets make it simpler how about sl-look what dwight powell and aron gordon did in a year and noah vonlea-how would he now stack up,we will know in a couple months -remember durant called him the best athlete in nba
those guys can't even crush mickey and holmes-winslow and d'angelo are not showing too well-randle having trouble

Winslow was not having as much trouble as you suggest. I'd take Winslow 11 times out of 10 over PJ3.
Long-form is far from dead, but please refrain from paragraph-laden posts! Who wants to read that?!

If Perry Jones were a real rookie this year, he'd be a great-tools guy who underwhelmed for four years in college. Guys like that don't tend to get drafted very high. Dwight Powell is a great comp-- he went 45th in the 2014 draft and I see no reason to think he'd have gone higher this year.

It's not a very worthwhile comparison anyway, and here's why. Almost all rookies are bad in year one. Then, some are decent in year two, and then if they're going to be actually good they start to really show it in years 3-4.

We've got Jones on a contract for one year. If he were to put up rookie of the year numbers, he would be still be worth much less than a real, 4-year-cost-control rookie who was bad but showing some kind of promise.

in2012 orlando summer league perry scored 16pt with 8 rebounds and was considered the steal of the draft and was a lottery talent with huge ability -how did he fall so far ,his knees were flagged-matter of fact those 16 points were vs celtics blew by fab,put backs and hit 3's
he was being compared to odum and was the best player of day by far he then sprained his ankle the next game while having 8pts 3 blocks-his freshman year he was supposed to be a top 10 pick-his athletism is off the charts and he was aggressive---i have gone back in time to 2012 and read how good people thought he was going to be--he was like the greek freak in 2012--they praised his low post d and all the way to perimeter-the question of motor was called a bad rumor by players
