I really don't understand the perceptions of teams on this boards. If the celtics owned the Heat Draft pick I feel really confident that everyone would say it was going to be late 20's and the heat were the second best team in the east. However, cause we don't own it and Philly does the Heat somehow have all these issues despite adding a bunch of key veterans, resigning everyone and not losing a single player.

I mean the Nets had a horrible offseason losing their starting point guard and 3 other rotation players while adding next to nothing, but we still have people saying they will be decent.

Lets try to switch the pessimism for the celtics with the optimism people have for things working for the 76ers?

Funny, I find posts like yours to be the stilted ones.  The Nets didn't have a horrible offseason.  Re-signing Lopez and Young were by far the most important moves they needed to make and they were able to do so.  The stretch buyout of Williams was a great move to get them under the luxury tax line this year and get nearly 20mil in additional cap space next offseason.  They are much better off getting rid of Williams than Johnson.  They did lose some rotation players but they added some as well.  Lopez's health is their big X-factor.  If he's healthy, there is no reason they can't compete for the 8th playoff spot.   (Prediction: 10th)

If things go well, Miami could be the 2nd best team in the East.  If things go poorly, they could be 10th in the East again.  Bosh's recovery from blood clots isn't a given and Wade making it through the season healthy is unlikely.   In the 44 games Bosh did play last season, the Heat's record was 19-25.  (Prediction: 5th)

As for us, we have lots of mediocre players.  That depth should allow us to compete for the 8th playoff spot.  (Prediction: 8th)

The Sixers 7 year plan is interesting. Understanding they didnt really tank the year they got Noael, so in the first two years of their plan, they got Embiid which has yet to bear fruit, and Okafor.

Lots of pressure for the okafor pick to pan out. It can be argued that if it doesnt, then things arent going to plan at all. Unless they are willing to wait 3 more years (1 more year of tanking, and 2 of player development). That is just torture for a fan base though isnt it?

Good on them for planning and actually executing though. In my opinion, this is not the clear cut best way to do it but I may be wrong. Well see!
