I actually think this helps the Nets a bit.  not a lot, but he provides a viable 1st big off the bench that can come in for either Lopez or Young

477th of 492 players in defensive rating last year (but ahead of Andrew Wiggins).

One of the worst defensive players I've ever seen.

There is no "D" in Bargnani

This is honestly not thrilling to me... Bargnani played well last year, and he's a very low risk/high reward kind of guy. If Young or Lopez gets hurt, he could be beneficial to them. At this point I think they make the playoffs. Even if they trade Joe Johnson away for nothing (they don't have to now after the buyout/stretching of Williams, they'd still be a low lottery pick. Let's be realistic fellas.

If were gonna say the C's will have a hard time making the playoffs because of the improved East (which is true to an extent. Boston, Miami, Indiana, NY, Orlando etc. have all improved) then the Nets are most certainly not making it.

Seriously, if Lopez gets injured for any significant stretch of time, that's a likely top 5 pick. He has to be totally dominant and healthy all season for them to even sniff the 8th seed. The way this is shaping up, well get two lottery picks and possibly make the playoffs.

Are you serious? The Nets? Playoffs? Bargnani is a HORRENDOUS defensive player. Whatever he gives you on offense, he more than gives back on defense. They need quick interior defensive help with the slow Lopez around. Bargnani is a guy who might put up shiny numbers (they're not that good, but whatever), but advanced stats show he's pretty mediocre, mostly b/c he is a horrible defensive player. I agree that he's fine for the vet minimum, but he's not really going to help them much. As for playoffs...miracles do happen, but you can't seriously think the Nets are going to the postseason. They got worse this offseason by a bit, and at least 4 teams below them should leapfrog them easily. The only team in the East that is definitely worse is Philly. Now, injuries, etc., can happen to help them out, but I still think they have no chance of sniffing the postseason unless Lopez is healthy for the first time ever and plays like a monster, Johnson finds a time machine and goes back to Suns Johnson, and every team above them suffers a major injury to a major contributor. If all those things happen, then they might have a shot.

I agree.  You need guys for the bench.  He is a long time starter in the league.  Will be good on the bench.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

agreed.  for a bench player that can play the 4 or 5, he's a decent pickup for them.  it's not like the Nets have a lot of other options on their bench.

I was on the Raptors forum to read up on the Deroan rumor but ran into the Bargs on Brooklyn thread. The forum Mod said "Congrats to Boston for their next 3 lotto picks" and posted this image
