I think for that cheap, Bargs is a very good pickup. Third big off the bench, will score and stretch the floor for Lopez if they're out together.m. Solid move by Brookyln, and for Bargs. 2nd year player option meaning if he plays well, he could opt out and get more money.

Did this signing just gift wrap a top 5 pick to the Cs?

Wow! Yeah, basically. It's like an endless gift dealing with GMs like Cuban and King. Unbelievable.

Terrible fit with Brook Lopez. Bargnani and B.Lopez are too slow (defensive quickness) as a pairing. Both guys are bad rebounders. Offensively, they'll work but the negatives outweight the positives.

So-so fit with Thad Young. Does not provide the interior help defense (or rebounding) you really want with Thaddeus Young. But he does give physical size defensively and offensive output.

Bad overall fit for roster. This is team that sorely needs defensive quickness at PF and/or insurance at center behind B.Lopez in terms of defense and rebounding. Bargnani provides neither. What he is good at is not a priority for this team. Bargnani will hurt this team more than help them.

Sure, except that literally half the time your on the basketball court, you have to play defense. Lopez is a poor defender at the 5, and Bargnani can't defend anyone, anywhere. Ed Davis woulda been perfect for them.

Lopez healthy all year = Top 10-12 pick
Lopez injured at all= Top 6 pick.

I really think we're shaping up to get two top 10-12 picks in a year we'll likely make the playoffs. Just imagine what Ainge could do with picks #5, #10 and #17.

I agree with the defensive deficiencies, but with what youre paying him and what you can potentiallyget from him offensively, it's not a bad pickup. And Bargnani is actually a decent one on one post defender.

Worth the vet. minimum.

The more I see from other teams, the more I fall in love with Danny for the Amir Johnson and David Lee deals.

I see Cleveland signing Shumpert for $40M/4 and Thompson $80M/5 and it makes me proud to have Danny Ainge as the GM of my team lol

Solid analysis here. I always thought as good as Lopez is on the block, that he kills his team on Defense from being so slow. Adding Bargnani is going to just make things worse. They also have a slow aging Steve Blake at point guard and 34 year old Joe Johnson. I never paid much attention to Thad Young on D, but one guy is not going to cover for all those slow feet.

That wouldn't matter, though, because that lineup wouldn't be able to get a rebound or defend a chair.

477th of 492 players in defensive rating last year (but ahead of Andrew Wiggins).

One of the worst defensive players I've ever seen.

Are you sure you're not going to miss Gerald Wallace? He was great at passing around the towels, high-fiving and mentoring the pups with the Barry White voice.

I think Sully once referred to him as Socrates.

This is honestly not thrilling to me... Bargnani played well last year, and he's a very low risk/high reward kind of guy. If Young or Lopez gets hurt, he could be beneficial to them. At this point I think they make the playoffs. Even if they trade Joe Johnson away for nothing (they don't have to now after the buyout/stretching of Williams, they'd still be a low lottery pick. Let's be realistic fellas.

I can't get into my head, that Bargnani gets a deal before Gigi Datome does. Must be the 7' thing.
