Triboy, I don't mean to burst your bubble, but why do you spend so much time on Mickey? Best case scenario is that he becomes a rotation player for years to come. Most likely scenario is that he's a career journeyman. Worst case scenario is he's out of the league in a couple of years.

You're rivaling the AWOL BBallTim with the love affair he has for Rondo.

Does Mickey look like a 2nd round talent to you?
Like CBS said ,  they thought Mickey would not be there at 33.

Livio Jean Charles was drafted at 27? A few years ago by the Spurs.  Mickey looked like a better prospect yesterday

I'd like to see Mickey watch a lot of Udonis Haslem game tape.

(1) Learn to play with more physicality. More toughness.
(2) Improve footwork / positioning / fundamentals as a defender and rebounder.
(3) Learn to play with more effort/focus throughout possessions. Mickey has a troubling on/off switch right now that is causing him unnecessary problems both defensively and as a rebounder. Relaxing too much off the ball. Conceding position. Not readjusting to ball movement / player movement to be in place for next attack.

I think with a few years hard work ... Mickey could become a lot like Udonis Haslem.

Taj Gibson is another good one for Mickey to learn from. Not as physically strong as Haslem was. Thinner more like Mickey but also (like Haslem) learned to use his body very well. Mickey does not use his body well on defense. Mickey needs more strength but he doesn't use what he already has well either. Bad footwork.

I agree, those would be good things but Mickey is way more athletic.

Yes, he does. He's a project. A project that only cost us a 2nd rd pick, but a project nevertheless. He's going to spend the entire year in Maine and given the fact that we have a lot of picks next year, he could be cut next summer if he doesn't improve and get considerably stronger. He might be 240, but he doesn't play like he weighs that much. Weight doesn't necessarily mean physical strength, so he just might not be a naturally strong person to begin with.

Yes, completely.
He had one good game, one game he sucked BAD, and then yesterday he was okay.
Played great against Utah's bum big men, played terribly against Okafur and played ok against the Spurs D Leaguers/2nd round picks.

He's got good potential for some NBA range, and he's aggressive on defense, but he's got problems on offense around the basket against length and needs some serious polish on his game before we start calling him 'mini bosh' lol.

He looks like an early 2nd round or maybe very late first round pick at this stage. We have no idea what he'll be for another 12 months at least and he'll be lucky to play this season in all likelihood.

I've been more impressed by Rozier and RJ Hunter's shooting started to come to life in the last 2 games which was nice to see. Mickey was good, and VERY good in game 1, but pretty much what I expected in games 2 and 3. Would love to see him add a 3 point shot like Holmes which they'll probably ask him to work on this season in the gym, as well as his footwork around the bakset on offense. He hesitates way too much on offense and is afraid of getting blocked vs length.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Reminds me of the way Chris Bosh plays. Definite keeper.

Rozier reminds me on Rondo (better shooter obviously). Keeper.

RJ Hunter is a great ball player too, not sure who he reminds me of yet. But hes a keeper.

Thorton is terrible, waive him now.

I still have hope for James Young, just needs to settle down and relax. plays really tight and tense. Until he changes that, he will continue to struggle.

If he can toughen up and put on some muscle, I could see Mickey being a Lavoy Allen type. About that type of ceiling should be about right. Good bench energy guy that can play some tough defense, grab some rebounds, block a shot and give you about 6-8 points a game.

Lavoy Allen, Lou Amundson, Darrell Arthur.  Those are some of the names that come to mind.

The way he moves on the court reminds me a little bit of Brandan Wright, but without the explosive finishing inside.  Looks like he has a nice midrange shot though.

I've got a soft spot for the Jack Sicma reverse pivot he uses in the first clip. Tyrus Thomas is the closest comp I've seen in this thread and that's not an indictment.

Thomas went second and was traded for LaMarcus Aldridge for a reason. His skill set is a rare commodity. A shot blocking, jump shooter who can fill the lanes and step out on the perimeter and guard the pick and role. Stick him next to a proficent low post center and that's a potent combination.

No, not at all. Mickey is better then them. I just don't think he's better than Cauley-Stein, Turner, and Portis like you routinely have said. Has that opinion changed yet?

Really need to see a lot more

I like his guts and energy .....not afraid to take on the big dudes.

Poor mans ...Aaron Gordon maybe ?

If Mickey learns to shoot free throws  and a few post moves ......he could have a nice career
