You mean you guys don't have faith in Jae Crowder?
I like his D, grit and leadership but I don't trust his offense.   Do you think he is a quality starter?

I think he is a quality starter if we had a 2 that can score, like DeRozan or Wade.. since we don't I think we need a scorer at the 3 and a guy like Crowder to come in for change of tempo, lock down D.

Having looked at the options in some detail today, I think DeRozen seems like the best trade option. I'd also like to see the Cs take a crack at growing Ross.

Maybe....

DeRozen & T. Ross for Bradley, Olynyk (or Sullinger), right to trade picks with Nets in 2017 (or a different pick).

AND (separately)

S&T Amir Johnson for David Lee

I came here to post a similar proposal. I think it would make a lot of sense for both sides. I'd try to include a pick other than the BKN swap rights and/or try to protect it, though. The unprotected nature of those two BKN picks and the swap rights are the Celtics best bet at lucking into a star. Maybe the Cs own pick for 2016 would be enough?

I think he could be, given the context of the team. If we want to funnel a majority of our scoring through someone like David Lee then i think that Crowder could match up with the tougher forward on the defensive end of the ball, but I think having, say, Johnson, Crowder Bradley and Smart on the floor at the same time is going to make it very tough on whoever is left to actually score the basketball -- which is a fairly persuasive argument for acquiring a player like Lee.

For whatever reason we seem to have a glut of defensive minded wings/guards and defense averse bigs (save Johnson), which seems peculiar to me. Perimeter D is just as important as having a KG behind you, of course, but without any interior anything it's hard to see the team succeeding.

I think he starts next year and improves. However, I really like him at the 4 when we go small. It would be nice to be able to have a small ball lineup that is something like Smart, Bradley, Crowder, Chandler, Johnson That is a really good strong defensive lineup

Nuggets east!

Wilson Chandler or Gallinari are my wild guesses.

I was trying to think of a clever way that we could get one of those guys while also acquiring Ty Lawson, but I don't see how we could make the salaries match.  It seems to me that Denver is going youth around Mudiay and Nurkic, though... so it's something to keep an eye on.

Could you do something whacky to clean up the mess like Bradley, Sully, Avery, Turner, Zeller and Young for Lawson and Gallinari? http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ocgr6xc

Lol people would be so mad.

But PG - Lawson, SG - Smart, SF - Gallo, PF - Lee, C - Amir with Thomas, Oly, Crowder, Jerebko, Rozier... makes some sense.

Highly unlikely.  I could see us making a move for for one of the SF's though.

Actually now that I think about it, with Lawson as an upgrade over Thomas, I guess you could just go Thomas + Bradley + Sully for Lawson + Gallo.
I'd be in favor of that second deal. Gives the C's another ball handling guard that can score/shoot and a SF that can shoot ad well. Not sure it would be conducive for the defensive side but they would be able to score a ton.

I would love to grab Lawson and Chandler.  And Gallo, if he's healthy. I think you could mix and match those pieces with the current roster to make a fun team that was still respectable on defense.

At the very least you'd have the pieces to field five legitimate NBA starters, which would be nice.

What about a package to get Luol Deng that helps Miami save on taxes.

In terms of straight salary matching, Lawson for Bradley and Turner, and Chandler into the Prince TPE (assuming it's still available) works.

Don't like the idea of flipping IT so quickly. Prefer him off the bench. Rozier and Smart can pretty much do what Bradley does.

When was the last time that happened?  2010?

Jae hustles like a demon and has an attitude I like, but I think he'll never be an ideal starting wing defender due to his lack of size.  He'd need to go through a Demarre Carroll level improvement in his outside shooting to become somebody I really want starting.

No room for SF uless two guys are moved for one. Also if it's just for depth maybe CJ Fair makes the squad. Fair has looked well in SL. Seems tough, vocal and understands his strengths. We will see how the rest of SL goes. But back to the depth chart, it is already too many guys. So far I see it as
Smart/IT/Rozier
AB/Young/Hunter
Turner/Crowder/Jerekbo
Lee/Sully/Mickey
AJ/Zeller/KO
Thornton, Pressey, Babb are cuts.

What about a package to get Luol Deng that helps Miami save on taxes.

Because the new salary cap and luxury taxes came in so high, Miami doesn't need to move too much salary to avoid taxes.  About $5 million will get them far enough under that they can still add a little MLE type and a couple of minimum guys and still avoid it.  Unless they just don't want Deng, I don't see them moving him to save dollars.  Having him helps transition Winslow to the NBA better.

Also, Deng has a trade kicker, so he's tougher to match salaries for.
