I was just reading the protections on the Dallas pick.  It's top 7 protected every year though 2020 then becomes unprotected in 2021.  So it's not the end of the world if we don't get their pick this year.  It might work out better if we get it in 2017 when the draft might be better, and we only have 1 first round pick then at the moment.

That is an original thought.  Tommy Point!

This is nothing but a fantastic result for the Cs if it happens.

So what is better for us??
With DA and Wes we get a pick that I guess would be somewhere in the 20~, with a slight chance of lottery maybe? Wes is coming out of injury, and Dirk getting old.
But with no DA or WES, is Cuban going to tank Philly style to make sure he doesn’t lose his pick?

They almost have to. THere are no plan B's available for the roster this year in free agency, they dont have many tradeable assets, and they have to save face from the ROndo deal. They would be super motivated to tank.

It would be interesting to see what "tanking" entails. Dirk and Chandler won't necessarily bench themselves. They care about their legacies and their next contracts (respectively). It is easier for a team like Philly to tank because there is no one especially good on the roster (yet). That's less the case for Dallas.
Celtics fan for life.

Clippers, Jordan meeting over

The meeting has ended, according to ESPN's Chris Broussard. Chris Paul was emotional during the meeting, a source in the room told Broussard. Paul told Jordan he had no idea he felt negatively about him and that he thought they were "brothers." He said he'd work to get Jordan more involved in the offense and that the Clippers couldn't move forward without him.

A Dirk "injury" a la David Robinson in 98?

I really doubt the Mavs will tank. They just have too much talent to take that approach.

Starters
PF- Nowitzki
SF- Parsons
?
PG- Harris
SG- Matthews

Rotation
Villanueva
Barrea
Anderson (rookie)

Others
Powell
Felton
Singh

Free Agents
Stoudemire
James

So I think what they'll do is try to bring Deron Williams home (they've always been fond of him) with their available cap space and trade Felton's expiring contract out. Perhaps they'll even be able to get something else from the Nets for taking on his huge contract (2 years remaining).

This is actually a pretty good scenario for us. It weakens the Nets and makes the Mavs just good enough to ensure the pick conveys.

Serious question: is Deandre Jordan a child?

I laughed at the fact that Chris Paul was emotional. But to answer your question, I'm beginning to believe so. He's like Dwight: Indecisive.

It's like Deandre agreed to sign with Dallas and then realized, "Wait, don't I need to get permission from Chris and Blake, like with everything else?"

I'm really hoping Deandre goes back to the Clippers. I'd rather risk Dallas being a bottom 7 team and just roll the pick over than have Deandre come to Dallas, play well, get them in the playoffs again and give the Celtics yet another pick in the low 20's.

DeAndre Jordan has indicated to the Clippers he intends to play for them next season, but their team representatives are not leaving Jordan until he signs and may remain there at midnight, according to ESPN.com.
