Sources: Conversations that Clippers teammates have had w/ DeAndre Jordan in past 24 hours give players confidence he'll return to them.

Sources: Doc Rivers, Steve Ballmer, Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, Paul Pierce and JJ Redick are converging on Houston to meet with Jordan.

Awesome. Mavs picking looking better.

I worry the Mavs pick will get much worse. What do they do? Cuban said they'd tank if they didn't get DJ.
Isnt the pick protected? They probably tank hard and keep it

I mean, they are giving Wes Matthews the max as well, so it's not like they're completely tanking.  It will be tough to rush for the basement this year.  Heck, offer Tristan Thompson the max and go get Jeremy Lin with the saving between Thompson and Jordan.

seems like there should be some formal rules about this. if this happened to us it'd feel pretty horrible.

There are many formal rules about it. The Clippers are breaking none of them.

You gotta think Wes wouldnt be signed if Jordan doesnt come on board. Everything could change!

So let me ask this: if Jordan can go back on his verbal agreement, then can Dallas go back on their agreement with Matthews? That'd be pretty effed up, because now Matthews gets screwed because of an unethical action by DJ.

This could very well become one of the defining scenarios in the next CBA argument between the players and the owners.

For anyone interested in what governs players and teams during the moratorium:

Not really. He agreed before DeAndre. The Mavs already said that how much Matthews would get would depend entirely on DeAndre.

Also, all of the talk about the Mavs tanking or reneging on Matthews is unfounded. Cuban said he'd tank if he got shut out completely in free agency, i.e. no Matthews OR Jordan. He never said signing Matthews was contingent on DeAndre.

I wonder if Dirk, Cuban, Parsons, Carlisle, and Matthews are going to visit Tyson Chandler.

I was really looking forward to Blake Griffin: point center, and the Clips being mediocre in general.  So I hope DJ doesn't change his mind.

I'm getting the sense DJ doesn't have a very forceful personality and is easily swayed by whomever happens to be talking to him.

First he was convinced by Parsons or whoever to go to Dallas, now his teammates are persuading him back the other way.  Dude just needs to shut out everybody else and decide for himself.

Agre with this.  Even if Cuban didn't want Matthews anymore, backing out of the deal would look awful to future free agents.  If DeAndre backs out, he'll be hated in Dallas, but he'll sign a larger max deal with the Clippers and move on.  If the Mavs renege on Matthews, you'd have to think free agents would hesitate to sign with the Mavs in the future.  The Mavs can't risk that considering how poorly they've drafted the past several years.

The question is, will Mark Cuban be forced to fire Chandler Parsons for his failure?

Wes tweeted if Dj is gone, I am gone. So I could see Matthews backing out if Jordan leaves. If Wes and Jordan leave they did completely strike out in free agency.
